We love coming to lake Monticello! It's so much more peaceful than Lake Wateree and has lots of interesting places to explore. Definitely a great place to visit if you're into boating or kayaking.

I absolutely love this lake. I have lived on it for 3 years now, and couldn't imagine living anywhere else!

There are 2 lakes. The main one that is for the nuclear reactor and a smaller recreation lake. There is a really nice beach with roped off swimming area and other amenities on the recreation lake. No gasoline powered engines are allowed on a the smaller lake. Both have boat ramps and some really nice fishing. The larger lake is subject to fairly large changes in the water depth on a daily basis. One of the greatest plusses is that these lakes do not get overcrowded as more well known local lakes are won't to do.

It's beautiful year round and never crowded.
