Legal Aid of Northwest Texas

My wife and I visited this office on December 14, 2015. She had previously contacted the office 2 weeks prior to our visit on the 14th. She spoke with a Receptionist who did a quick intake over the phone. I believe her name was Mary, a very nice Hispanic woman. My wife was told that someone would be contacting her within a week or so to see if the issue that she needed assistance with could be helped by using this program. We were initially given this office as a reference for contact. When we arrived that morning, the Receptionist's were very nice and asked what we needed help with. My wife explained the issue and the Receptionist told my wife that she would have someone come up momentarily. A medium to medium dark haired woman came up within a couple of minutes. We didn't get her name, and to this day we really don't know if she was a lawyer, an assistant of some sort, a fill in, or a paralegal; as she seemed annoyed that she even had to come up in the first place. Her reply was "yeah?" My wife explained to her the issue. In turn this woman gave very short and rude answers with much attitude. My wife was appalled by the demeanor this woman was addressing her answers with. Need I mention that we live out on the West Coast, and flew into Texas and then drove 2 more hours to Plainview Texas just to speak to a "Professional" at this office. It almost seemed like we were wasting her time, as if we were just annoying her. First of all, let me just say that we were directed to this place. From my understanding, this is for low-income families and/or individuals that need some sort of legal aid and can't afford some higher priced attorney. My wife, very politely said that we were in no longer need of their services. Just a word of advice, just because it's low-income, we would rather pay for a PROFESSIONAL ATTORNEY, rather than get attitude from an individual such as this woman. I'm sure that there are other individuals that have had a better first impression, unfortunately ours was not. Would I recommend this office to anyone you ask? Our honest opinion is depending on what your willing to take as far as a bad attitude. Stay away.
