I'm planning on moving to Charlotte in the coming months and Local Loaf is just up the street from my office. I had the Chicken & the Egg, and I say this without any hesitation, that was the best piece of chicken I've ever had in my life. I understand that's an odd thing to say, but it was so perfectly seasoned, so perfectly cooked, and so perfectly crispy, it was just...perfect. on top of that my wife and I split an oatmeal cream pie for the nostalgia and it's so much better than I could've imagined. Oh, and I wish I caught her name but the girl at the counter with the piercings was so friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back when I'm living there. I'm spreading the word to all my coworkers already there.
I’m not one to leave bad reviews, but this place needs some serious TLC. We called twice before coming in and received no response, so we decided to eat in. That was our biggest mistake. The floors are dirty, most tables are sticky, and the furniture is very wobbly and flimsy. We waited for our food for over 30 minutes, had to go back to the cashier to ask for more water, and never received the salt and pepper we asked for. The staff is very friendly and the food is absolutely delicious, but the severe understaffing and the dirtiness of the restaurant overshadowed the great meal we all had. I do recommend this delicious food, but I suggest you order it to go and hope they’ll pick up the phone to get your order.
I have driven by Local Loaf a few times in Charlotte NC and finally decided to try! Was so cute inside. There is no waitress service so you just order at the front and they bring your food to you. The place was super clean. They have wine by the bottle to purchase and they also had a great wine list by the glass. I had the French Sauvignon Blanc. The menu was amazing! It was so hard picking stuff but we had the sausage, egg and cheese sandwich, an order of fries, the fig and Brie toast and the bubble & squeak boxty benny but I substituted the salmon for prosciutto. Everything was so unbelievable. The fries were so crispy and well seasoned. The sandwich was huge and was delicious. I loved my Benny! Perfectly cooked and the fig and Brie combo was a perfect combo. I can’t wait to go back and try other things.
Omg... Awesome neighborhood breakfast joint! All locally sourced produce. Plus they make their own, bread baked goods, cookies, and make it all fresh. I got there when the cookies came out of the oven. O boy... Next time I'm taking them home to bake. Wonderful experience for me... P. S The pancake is crispy around the edges. This guy has been making pancakes since he was 7...there good!
This is one of my favorite places to eat in charlotte hands down. Their food is absolutely delicious. Good quality and fresh. The staff is super friendly and they have house baked goods, wine, beer, and other drinks to chose from even if you’re not eating. The shrimp and grits is the best, shrimp and grits are one of my favorite meals to get anywhere I go, and this is top 2. Please go and eat it right now.
WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!! Yes, wait times are long, so if you’re looking for a quick in and out, this might not be the place for you. But these aren’t big batch meals, they’re made individually as orders come in - which is what makes it so incredibly delicious! If you’re looking for some of the tastiest, highest quality food, I can’t more highly recommend the Local Loaf. My meal the Spanish migas legitimately was some of the best food I’ve ever had in Charlotte. We will be back!!!!!
Best shrimp and grits I’ve had in years coming from a former New Orleanian. We also had butternut squash tartine and beet salad - Both were so good and were made with with fresh, healthy ingredients. Overall: Food was timely, beer was delicious, neighborhood was cool, music was good, and the team was very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!!
Local Loaf is a must try neighborhood favorite! Awesome people and the food is always delicious, we’ve been coming for years! FRESH, local and unique! You can also find all sorts of interesting beverages and snacks outside of regular menu items!
A good friend of mine was in town last weekend and we decided to go to brunch that Sunday. I found a hidden gem off the beaten path in NODA. It's called the Local Loaf. It's very unpretentious and welcoming from the outside. Wooden picnic tables line the corner perimeter of the building. The inside isn't fancy either. Simple, spartan and comfortable. You'll find the menu online. No paper or laminated cards here. There was a gray haired gentleman taking orders and he was very friendly and knowledgable about the fare they offered. His name is Jay. So is mine. Anyhoo, there were only three people working...Jay, taking orders, one cook and a dynamite server who not only served, but helped the cook on the line. Jay told us that they had in excess of 30 call-in orders so it may be about 30 minutes before we would be served. We instantly liked this little place so much, we decided we didn't mind at all. Jay served us two cups of freshly brewed Smelly Cat coffee in rustic stoneware mugs and we quickly found an empty picnic table outside and settled in. My friend and I chit-chatted about everything and nothing as we are prone to do. Quaint little bungalow houses lined the streets of the intersection where the restaurant is located. We were in the shade and the fresh, hot cups of coffee fended off the lightest chill in the breeze. Our food finally arrived and the server, I forgot her name, placed it in front of us with a big smile on her face. We had a short friendly conversation and she left us to enjoy our brunch. And enjoyed it, we did! I ordered Croque Madam and it was everything. Brioche, nice salty, smoky ham, the morney and the cheese topped with the Sunnyside up egg. I lived in Montmartre, Paris and the Croque took me back to those days at Cafe Remy. Had my first of many there. I digress. My friend had light and fluffy waffles, bacon and overeasy eggs. She said for a simple meal, it was perfect. Cheers to the cook at Local Loaf! We will definitely come back. You don't come across little treasures that often.
We went mid morning on a Friday. We were the only table there. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Breakfast still took 20 minutes even though we were the only 2 orders. Food was amazing! Definitely understand why this place has huge waits on the weekend. Maybe a little more help in the kitchen would alleviate wait times? Definitely great food, ridiculous wait/serve times.
