We had a great a experience at this place, it was right next to our hotel, the waiter Sam was friendly, chef wells did an excellent job. The food was delicious, although it did take a little longer than usual, it was worth the wait. I will come back next time we are in NOLA
Amazing restaurant, get the "Feed Me" option and receive a crafted to your tastes chefs menu!!! Simply amazing!
We booked as we had heard this was a great place to eat. Sadly the night we went only another table in the restaurant was taken. Not sure if that was because it was a Sunday. Anyway we couldn’t understand why as the food was really good, the waiter really attentive and the ambiance lovely. I would definitely recommend dining here. The fried green tomatoes with shrimp, the quail and BBQ shrimp are really worth trying.
This is our second trip to New Orleans in the last five years. My wife happened upon the Louisiana Bistro in our first trip. We ordered the Feed Me option both times. Chef Wells did a fantastic job with each other our five courses. Everything was cooked to perfection, and each sauce was outstanding.
This place it's such a unique dining experience. My wife and i have never eaten in such aelegant and wonderful restaurant. We are looking to return to New Orleans just so we can dine here again. The chef here is fabulous. We ordered the three entrees. The chef came out of the kitchen and ask us our likes and dislikes, then he returned to the kitchen and create a unique dish for each entree. Each and every evening the menu changes. Food is created using local Farm to Table products that are gathered each and every day from the local markets. Recommend this place to everyone we meet and speak with, that will be in tye New Orleans area and are looking for this type of one of a kind dining experience.
The service was horrendous, it took 30 minutes for our appetizer to arrive and we ordered it while there were only three occupied tables. The waiter hovered at the kitchen window nearly the entire time while ignoring the tables. He never checked on us to see if we need water refills or anything. Only stopping by to deliver food. With that being said if you are not in a rush and don't mind being forgotten the food was delicious. While the plates were small after a starter and entree we were still hungry but a trip to Cafe Du Monde for dessert after was perfect they were superb. We truly enjoyed our fried oyster starter and duck and fish entrees.
The highlight of the trip to New Orleans. They cater to those of us who are adventurous tasters. Select the "feed me" option, and inform the servers you are not the type who wants "salsa on the side". Each dish is unique. While the rabbit was fine, the memorable dishes were the grilled crawfish on the most delicious sauce ever grits! and the frog legs. And wine recommendation was excellent. Worth the research and the walk to get there.
Hands down the best meal in New Orleans! While the menu is fantastic I advise you ignore it. Order the _Feed Me_ every time. Chef comes out to your table and talks to you about what you do ad do not like. He then disappears into the kitchen and jazz improvs a three course meal tailored to those tastes. From the alligator tenderloin gumbo to the blue crab and asparagus every item on the menu is a true treat! I advise a shot of green Chartreuse with your meal. Go on, be adventurous! Review by Loki
When a restaurant is kept intentionally small so that the Chef is the only one touch every aspect of your meal it's a good sign. Such is the case with Chef Eric Mars of Louisiana Bistro. I've been dining there since well before Hurricane Katrina and the experience has always been stellar. The multi course "Feed Me" is particularly deserving of note. Chef Mars comes to the table side and converses with you in detail about what you do and do not like. He then goes into the kitchen and creates a suitable masterpiece. A gustatory jewel of great price, Louisiana Bistro is one of the best meals in a city that is known globally for its cuisine.
Absolutely horrible experience. My GF is vegan and when we asked if they could accommodate her, the waiter assured her they would. She ordered a salad that normally came with a bacon vinaigrette dressing and simply asked that the chef substitute something else. She also ordered the Fried Green Tomato. We could hear the chef complaining about it to the point that we offered to pay for our drinks and leave. The waiter apologized and brought out the salad. Half way through, we realized the chef had put the bacon vinaigrette dressing on it! My GF became sick to her stomach and ran to the restroom. The waiter apologized and offered to comp the meal. When we went to leave, the waiter said that since I had eaten most of my dinner and finished our drinks, we had to pay for everything except the salad. Numerous calls to the owner have gone unreturned so this is my only recourse. The chef KNEW she was vegan and intentionally gave her a BACON topped salad. Simply unacceptable!
