A typical Italian restaurant, with fine food, but nothing outstanding unlike the Shephard, a restaurant that was there before. Beer on tap is just average. I'm taking one star out for the relation of quality to price
This is pretty much the average of what you'd expect from an Italian restaurant. Nothing more, nothing less. The decor is nice but the pizzas were a little on the doughey side, and the toppings were not delicious. Pasta was the better choice. The place is new though, so we'll see how it develops.
While I miss Shepard the restaurant here before this one, this is almost on the same level of quality. Service is still exceptional and each dish is executed with precision. The menu is smaller than Shepard’s, but I don’t think this impacts your restaurant experience. This is a great place to get a reliably good bite to eat on a night of celebration. Good selection of interesting and tasty local beers as well as quality cocktails.
They have a great menu and are very great about letting you know about ingredients and substitutions if you have a dietary restriction or allergy. Our server, David, was very knowledgable and kind. The green bean and potato appetizer is definitely better than you would imagine and the pastas are so flavorful and dynamic! Also, definitely save room for desserts! Thanks for a great evening, David and Luce!
First time dining at Luce. Sat at bar as I was dining alone. Bar tenders made zero attempt to engage other than taking orders. While I was there it was more important to the staff to chit-chat with each other than to make any attempt to engage with their customer. Food was mediocre considering the price $$$$. I can do equivalent or better at home in my kitchen. Best thing was the wine which was ok but probably overpriced like the rest of the place. No reason to go back when you can get far better service and better food most any place else at a more fair price. Dining at a fine restaurant at the bar should be fun, warm and friendly. My experience was not fun or warm or friendly.
Luce is a winner! It opened 4 days ago and we went last night. The restaurant was packed. The menu is a bit limited but what we had was delicious. The anti pasta was a great starter and then we moved on to lemon linguini with clams which had a crunchy sprinkling and the duck bolognese. Both dishes were delicious and you could tell that the pasta was fresh and homemade. They also have a few pizzas and larger main courses such as sea bass and a NY strip. Pastas come 8n half or full sizes. For dessert, you can choose between ice cream or sorbet, a nice finish to a pasta dinner. The food was delicious, and as I said before is a WINNER!
Dinner took about an hour to arrive. It's good, but the service was just way too slow. We almost left but were so committed about 45 minutes in that we just waited. Artichoke appetizer is very good. They really nailed that one.
Order a Luce negroni from the talented bartenders. The menu changes often, but everything I've tried has been delicious and fresh. The pasta dishes are amazing and the pizza dough is light and worth the carbs!. All of the FOH employees were friendly and attentive. Well-executed concept!
Good food, friendly helpful staff. The serving size is moderate for most items, but the pork chop is generous. Even when they are busy, it is easy to have a conversation.
Very limited menu but everything we ordered was excellent and the folks at the next table were enjoying their food, too. The waiter wasn't exactly welcoming but he was attentive, prompt with food delivery and helpful with wine choices.
