I’ve loved Lutfi’s for years living in the KC Metro. I work in Independence so I was excited when they put one in on Noland Rd. The food is great. I suggest the Red Beans & Rice which are my favorite side dish, I could just eat that and be happy. The Mac and cheese is decent but I wish it had more creamy sauce and spices. I like the Cajun spice on the shrimp which if they had a spicier version I’d definitely get that. It is on the pricier side for a meal this box of fish & shrimp was around $22.85 after tax. That being said the food is above Your average fast food spot. All in all a great local KC company to get a southern style home cooked meal.
Decent spot for lunch. We had the half dinner. The fish had good flavor but was chewy. The Cole slaw was not homemade. The Mac n cheese made me wish we got a different side and the fries were crinkle cut. The best thing we had was a slice of carrot cake. That cake is what will make us come back.Food: 3/5
Yes! I live right by Charlie D’s on Holmes and 99th, but would much rather drive to Noland road for fried fish. Always on point. The customer service is always exceptional. I have never left the store and had to call them back or complain. Thank y’all for being so awesome, and going above and beyond to appease your customer’s. Parking: Plenty of parking.
I have heard about the Raytown location it is somewhat of a local legend, and discovered that Independence had a place, too. I had the fried catfish with sides of okra and beans and rice. The catfish was good the seasoning was perfect!, the okra was ok, and I really enjoyed the beans and rice. The restaurant looks a little dirty, and although I was told they had been at that location about a year, it looked like it hadn't quite flipped from whatever the storefront was before it was Lufti's. I look forward to going back and trying something other than the catfish, but I'm in no particular hurry to do so.
~update~ 1/28/2023 Went in for lunch today. Had the half dinner. 4 cat 2 small sades added fries and a carrot cake. 1 drink. $27 The cake was amazing! The coleslaw was store bought? Not bad. The Mac and cheese was ok. Maybe they make it early? The fries was cringle cut. Was good. However.. the cat fish. Was seasoned great! But.. The batter was chewy? The fish maybe was a little undercooked? I could've tell honestly. Just chewy. As like last time, they play slow jams. I find it funny. I know the songs. But normally places have up beat/happy music. Not baby making music. I might come back. For cake and try something different. _-----------+------ 3/2022 First time ever eating at this establishment/business. The chicken to me was pre cooked. Taste was ok but cold. The fish also seems packaged and deep-fried. The tartar sauce seemed like it was the only thing house made and was great! But the thing that made it weird sitting and eating inside.. playing loud baby making 80s slow jams R&B music was kinda weird. . I'll probably never eat here again. Oh, the woman working front counter was super nice.
Sadly this was the last time I give this place a chance. I frequent this place often and the last three times the food quality continues to decline. To top it off, the Mac and cheese they gave me as a side was like so unbelievably small. Then to top it off, some of it was dried out along with the fish. I don’t know if they keep over cooking it but the fish was extremely dried out and mostly crunchy. The bread was also kind of hard. I can’t keep wasting money. Lutfi’s used to be my ultimate favorite but quality has declined significantly.
Ordered 2, pound of fish meals, one with Cole slaw and okra, one with Mac and cheese and okra. The second order was wrong, them sending green beans instead. No big deal, here's where it gets worse. One bite into the stringy, tough as leather "fish" instantly sent me into a depression. About 20-30%of every other piece was just burnt tasting beading. The Cole slaw left a taste in my mouth that reminded me of expired milk. I literally gagged after one bite. The okra is the best part of the meal and it still is horribly done. Do not go to this restaurant
All of this......was just not good....fish, Mac & cheese were bland and unseasoned. Shrimp, Red beans & rice had a hint of spice but still bland. The potato salad not good. Chicken was dry. Coleslaw was the worst out of all. It tasted weird and had and weird aftertaste.
I ordered the fish and wings combo. It comes with 2 sides. I got the fries and okra. The fish, fries, and okra were great. The wings on the other hand, were not fresh. My wife ordered the same combo, with fries and mac and cheese. She felt the same way about the wings. Overall it was a good experience.
Good eating but a tad pricy... everything was cooked perfectly. I had fish & wings combo, gf had comeback fish sand. We both got catfish but they have 3 kinds of fish, cooked 4 diff ways. 1 star off cause they were really slow. But I will come back.
