Stayed here for a conference. The bed was nice and the TV was huge! The bathroom was small and there was very little counter space. The shower wasn't large but wasn't tiny either. The food at the restaurant was mediocre but it was convenient. The bar was priced high, but once again very convenient. The hallways felt more dated than the rooms, and the elevators were not all working. John at the concierge desk was awesome! The customer service was great and I felt very safe.
This stay wasn’t great. I’ve always had great experiences with Hilton hotels. But this one isn’t their best. The rooms are tiny. The first room I checked into had an incredibly loud A/C fan. The second room they put me in had the same problem. I chose to just deal with it rather than ask for a third room. The smoke alarm had a flickering light which made it difficult to sleep. There are no vending machines anywhere on the property despite a sign on literally every floor that says “vending”. If you want a late night bottle of water, either bring your own or pay $3/bottle. Anything else, you’ll need to wait until the following morning. The rooms do not have a fridge or a microwave. Prepare accordingly. The nicest part of the property is the lobby. The fitness room is a close second. So yeah. Not my best experience with Hilton overall.
Great experience! The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and gave great location suggestions. The fitness center was well maintained and had a variety of equipment. I had read poor reviews and was worried, but the hotel was great. Lots of great places in walking distance including the riverfront. Walkability: Lots of places to eat in walking distance. Also, very convenient to the light rail system which goes directly to the airport.
I had a fantastic check in experience with Carissa at the front desk. She was so nice, helpful and made the check in process really smooth. So that had me anticipating a really good stay. But as soon as I got to the room, it went down hill. The room was really grubby. Dirt and crumbs on the carpet. I had to wipe off my own chair so I could sit and do a Zoom meeting. There were still feathers and crumbs from the last person so there is no way it was wiped down. I head over to look at the beds and there are crumbs and hair on one bed and the other has a small food stain. So, I am heading downstairs to ask for new sheets. The beautiful view from my corner room is barely enjoyable with all the grime, hair, crumbs on the beautiful window seal. It's going to be a long week. While you can't help the size of rooms or the bathrooms, you can ensure that the rooms are clean. Lysol guarantee? Yeah, right!
I was here for a conference and arrived early. Fortunately, they had a room available and let me check in! The rooms are nice and include a desk area, large Samsung TV, and a comfortable bed. The view looks over other buildings. From my room, I was able to see some cool buildings and an outdoor chessboard. The conference area was nice. There is also a restaurant and bar on the first floor that is open for breakfast and dinner. Rooms: The rooms were clean. They have a large Samsung TV, desk area, chair with reading lamp, comfortable bed, coffee maker, and iron. They do not have room service, however, have a restaurant and bar on site. Food & drinks: The HopCity Tavern is on the main level. You can get take-out.
08/26/22 - Hotel has to be working with half their staff, but I am sure the half working aren’t getting paid double. Staff are hard to spot in their normal everyday clothes. I watched throw-up get tracked from the elevator bay people didn’t notice as they stepped off elevator throughout the lobby for about 30 minutes. Room service is cancelled because of COVID, which makes no sense at this point. Therefore, requested towels at front desk and 30 minutes later they didn’t arrive. Writing this review doesn’t make me feel good because I know the staff are probably working very hard.
Understaffed hotel really takes the shine off a downtown location. At this price point, one expects a clean room and courteous service, and honest booking. I got none at thus place. I booked at a price point for a king bed. When I arrived I was informed there were no more and I would be receiving two doubles instead. First room only had the bedsheets changed while large coffee stains splattered the desk and all over the AC unit. I went to get a new room and was told that as a bonus they would “upgrade” the room to a city view—which sounded great. It was only until I discovered they upgraded the price by more than doubling the original rate that I experienced the haphazard management firsthand.
Nice Hotel. Reasonable Price. Horrible experience at this hotel. I had a 3 night stay at Hilton Portland downtown. Response to my concern prompted me to cancel the last day of the reservation and find a different hotel. I witnessed a hotel employee doing some untoward things to a homeless person on the property. Downright evil. I expressed my concern with what i witnessed to front desk staff with a response of "I have emailed a director and they will handle it tomorrow". I advised i would return at 11:30am the following day so i could hear the response. I showed up at 11:30 and was told manager on duty was in a meeting and would reach back out to me shortly. 2.5 hours later and no response. I went back downstairs and was again given a "someone will help you shortly" response. I advised i was going upstairs to pack my belongings and would like out of my last day of the reservation if the response or no response wasnt satisfactory. When i returned, they had my receipt printed out. I asked the manager "Ryan" if they were going to respond and if they took the complaint serious. He asked me what i relayed to the night shift front desk. I advised what i had witnessed and he responded a director of security would reach out. I received a call about 15min later after i had gathered my receipt and left the property. The conversation started out well with Director taking responsibility for his employee action and not doing enough to instill the right culture. His corrective action however left much to be desired. He advised he would "address" it with the employee. No request for description of employee, no attempt to get me to stay at the hotel, no apology for the poor response time from 10:30 the previous night, no investigation into the incident, no offer to follow up with what corrective action would be, nothing. I asked Mr. Director if that was his response, that he would address it with the employee? His response was yes as if that was a sufficient response. Not even an inquiry whether i would like another follow up. He did offer if i wanted to speak to someone else to call the number he called me on. Never been more upset with Hilton Customer Service.
Fine for 3 star accommodation. Good location. No daily room service not even to get fresh towels, make bed, replenish coffee, etc. I suppose the excuse is Covid but in reality I’m sure it’s a cost cutting measure. Bathroom not particularly clean with hair on the ceiling no kidding! and a heck of a lot of dust and grime on top of the small insert cupboard. $55 per day for valet parking I was told there was no nearby convenient self parking. You wait for ages for the one working valet to appear to get your car for you.
Staff were very nice. Food at the conference was great. Hotel restaurant limited menu with really out of place offerings reminiscent of not having a chef but maybe a good microwave. My RV bathroom was larger than my hotel bathroom. For a Hilton this was very disappointing. Ice machines didn't work, vending machine missing and market closed early, nothing really going for this hotel when valet parking is all you get for 55 a day. Who can't get a coke at 7pm at a hotel. This girl.
