Fabulous fun place superb service! Wonderful food and gluten free options see pic of Shrimp dinner. My mother and I eat here everytime we fly into Portland. Just a jewel!!!Food: 5/5
Went here with friends for dinner. A traditional Italian restaurant operated by people who care. I think we all took a "doggy bag" home because the portions were so large. My friend who likes to complain kept saying in a kvetching tone "there's too much for me to eat" like that was a bad thing. Was definitely worth the drive into Portland even though we are surrounded with good restaurants near us.
This is easily the best Italian restaurant around, and they have an incredible gluten free pasta option too! My whole family absolutely loves Maria’s, the food, service, and atmosphere are always perfect. I grew up going to Maria’s with my family so I’ve been visiting for 20+ years and I’ve never had a bad experience. We love the puttanesca, baked stuffed haddock, and ravioli but everything on the menu is excellent. The waitstaff are always so kind and attentive and the chef does an absolutely fantastic job!!! If you’re looking for Italian in Portland this is absolutely the place to go, you won’t find anything else like it.
Such a great experience with my family. We got 3 different dishes, antipasto, and coconut cake. We shared everything and loved them all. The special of the day was amazing. Probably the best Italian place left of the old Portland. Long live Maria’s. I’m grateful you’re here.Food: 5/5
Great Italian food, large portions. Exceptional service and great desserts too!Food: 5/5
Great authentic Italian dinner in a local spot. Small restaurant with charm outside of the busy city. We stopped for a meal before a theater show downtown. Our waitress was fantastic and the food was just as good!
The service and food were excellent! My friend ordered the chicken parmigiana and I had the zuppa di pesce fra diavolo with linguini. It was AMAZING. Even the pasta was cooked to perfection. I skipped my salad and cocktail to save room for my meal and still barely made a dent. There were mussels, scallops, calamari, huge shrimp and a huge piece of haddock in a perfectly spiced fra diavolo. I had to order dessert to go! I got the triple layer coconut cream cake. I'm not a big coconut fan but it was delicious.
The shrimp scampi was good but very weak on seasoning, even though it had sliced garlic in it I could barely taste the garlic. I had to add quite a bit of salt AND grated cheese for it to have any flavor, and I am not a big salt person. Hubby got the chicken and broccoli Alfredo. Again, it was good but very bland. Service was friendly and conscientious.
Ordered the lasagna with meat sauce for Xmas dinner, sad to say we were all disappointed in the meal. The lasagna had very little sauce and it was only on the top, no sauce in between the ricotta or noodles which made it extremely dry tasting. We ordered it with meat and very little meat to be found. Thank god we had bread and salad. $45.00 will never order again
Try the delicious Sunday Sauce with braciole, meatballs, sausage and pork shank...forgetaboutit! We also had the Chicken Marsella and the Calamari scungilli salad which was also awesome. House made short rib Ravioli in a Marsella sauce...yes, please! Give me old school Italian food with huge portions and enough for leftovers! Cozy space with great service. Good desserts, too!
