More real than the gym.

one of the oldest walls around but still challenging. Not only is it tall but it is basically free($1parking fee) and is a great place to introduce people to climbing or learn leading on sport route type anchors without having to pay a ton at indoor gyms. Has a small overhanging area that can be used even in pouring rain.

A good first-step to climbing outside, but not at all a great solution. Advantages: $1 parking, very solid bolts, no overbearing supervision or other constricting rules (like a gym). Disadvantages: every hold feels greasy or smooth (nothing's sharp and easy to hold), not well-maintained (there are plenty of places to roll an ankle in the highly-uneven barkdust), must bring all your own gear
