Master Acting Class with Deborah Kampmeier

Deborah Kampmeier is truly a master acting teacher! I have never experienced a teacher more able to work with a variety of students - reach in and set them free. Through teaching scene study and a variety of well designed exercises, she leads students on a journey which deepens their craft, connects them more deeply to themselves, and allows them to work with concentration and relaxation. She creates a classroom that allows actors to take big risks and find their unique voices. I have studied with her for many years - and I can say that I have never seen a student fail to take giant leaps. I have been in class with students who are completely new and award winning television and film actors. We all get better. Her class is craft and life changing.

Working with Deborah has changed my life. It has enhanced my craft in ways I never thought possible. I now feel comfortable using my own self; my own needs and wants- my own idiosyncrasies, in scene work. These parts of myself now seamlessly become parts of the character. Deborah's method of practicing complete concentration, while shifting from task to task in a scene have helped me to finally feel secure as I do my work. And now- I am finally starting to feel like I can dive even deeper. This class creates a safe environment to be who we are and work intelligently on our craft. Without Deborah's aid, I would never be where I am today. :)

In my 25+ years as an actor, I have never experienced an acting class that inspires, motivates and brings out our uniqueness and humanity more than this one. Deborah is like the "actor whisperer" Hugely Inspiring,supportive, creative, challenging and intuitive, she has taken beginners as well as seasoned actors to places they never thought they could go. Her classes are filled with not just actors but Filmmakers, Writers, Directors and those who have only dreamed of a career in the arts. Every person in her classes has grown by leaps and bounds at their own pace. This class inspires and feeds me in ways I never imagined. Deborah is a gift to our community. If you ever wanted to be an actor or are one and want to grow- run, don't walk to the most truthful, inspiring and dynamic acting class in town

This class changed my life. I'm so thankful for it everyday. It's a sacred space and every week I feel safe here doing deeply personal and private work. It's unique for me because there's not another class like it in the world. Deborah is the most giving teacher. She gives wisdom. She gives her presence. She gives her enthusiasm. She's inspiring. She may also secretly be a wizard who can peer deep into your soul. And she's HILARIOUS. The technique we learn deals with concentration, relaxation, and a larger understanding of what's possible as an actor, artist, and human being. With a combination of private moments, speaking out, rehearsals, sense memory, dreams, feedback and Hamlet exercises, each 'distraction' can become a gift on a journey from moment to moment. With Deborah as a nurturing and honest guide, we gain the unparalleled ability to lead ourselves and thrive in ANY form of chaos that surrounds each of us as we step onto a stage. And in each moment you come to learn that your own voice; your breath, your mind, body and spirit are exactly what's needed.

As an actor and director, I've studied with quite a few acting teachers in New York and Deborah is by far my FAVORITE. Her work has changed my craft, career and life for the better. She helps actors approach the work from their authentic self, which leads to interesting choices and brave, vulnerable work. I've seen students in her class strive and stand out in projects they work on. I highly recommend this class, especially to actors burnt out by the business side of acting. She will reignite your love and passion for the craft. Aside from the shaman-like quality Deborah has on this almost spiritual journey you'll take in the class, I find her work especially useful in camera work.
