Mother's Day Brunch buffet was well worth the price. Make your own Bloody Mary's, breakfast choices and an amazing array of delicious brunch options. We even watched the executive chef check the buffet personally to make sure everything was fresh and abundant. Fully recommend this location to anyone for a lovely meal.
I've been here for brunch 3 times now over the past year or two. Each time they have upped the prices and decreased the quality. It's now $21 for their Sunday brunch buffet, but at least it now comes with coffee included. However, for $21, I expect the food to be exquisite. Lindy's level of good. Because I could order a brunch meal at Lindy's for about that same price, and still leave full. If I rated it on the friendliness of their servers, carrot cake and waffles alone, it would be 5 stars. But I can't do that. I have the irrational tendency to want to go back, I think it's because it sounds like it should be good and I keep hoping it's met it's potential. So this time I took very careful notes of everything to keep myself from spending that much money for mediocre food again. Bottom line: If you want an all you can eat brunch, go to Union in Short North. Parking is more of a pain, but it will cost less and taste better. Especially if you want an omelette. So here are my notes: The Bad: Undercooked hashbrowns No hot sauce readily available. You have to ask for some at the bloody mary corner of the bar. Ketchup had water pooled on top. The scrambled eggs were kind of thick and tasted like they were made with cream. Did not taste nice. Cinnamon rolls were very dry on the outside even crunched and crumbled . The sweet and salty pretzle bites had little to no salt. Which for me was good, but if you want pretzle, you'll be disappointed. The was only one regular coffee roast medium roast, but for some reason there were two flavored roasts. There was also one decaf. I've never seen the amount of normal coffee offered at brunch equal that of decaf and less than flavored. The regular coffee tasted of burnt beans. Given that it was Crimson which I love, it was likely because it had either been left sitting too long or it was made with too much coffee a high beans to water ratio makes even a light roast taste bitter. The eggs were too watery for their omelettes. The maple syrup was artificial again, $21 buffet. The fried chicken was old. Or the chicken itself was old as in approaching expiration. In either case, it did not taste fresh. Our table was out of splenda. There was some food that had fallen onto their face-up pile of clean plates at the buffet. Server after server walked by and never cleaned it or removed the plate. The Good: Super top marks for bringing a fresh pot when telling them about the current decanter contents. The waffles are perfectly cooked and yummy. The carrot cake is AMAZING. I make a mean carrot cake, so I am very picky. This was divine. The staff are super friendly. Important Note: They are in the midst of switching their coffee supplier to Roaming Goat. I'm not a huge fan of them, but if you are then I guess this will be a good thing. Brief Comment on Lunch: For what it's worth, I went here for a mid-week lunch a couple yrs ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. That's my only non-brunch experience. Given that it was so long ago, I'm not sure it's still relevant.
My family and I had dinner at Matt the Miller's Tavern yesterday. It was very good. We started off with their famous pretzel bites and spinach artichoke dip. My mom and I got the Certified Angus Beef strip steak and walleye and shared. The steak was our favorite between the two. We also had the blueberry mint I think that's what is was called cocktail. My dad got the fish and chips and loved it. For dessert we got the chocolate cake, cheesecake and chocolate mousse. The chocolate cake is big enough for 3 or 4 people to share!!! It was huge!!
I love coming here! I got the pan seared walleye and a pint of Kentucky bourbon barrel ale, and it was simply delicious. My kid loved the kid sized fish and chips, and my husband had a burger.
The Miller Burger was awesome 3/4 pound I couldn't even finish. And those pretzel bites for the appetizer those things are so amazing never had anything like it definitely try those. Good service great place to eat more of a higher class place.
Great service...and the food and cocktails were good also would definitely recommend..I didn't expect to get this type of food on the late night glad I did me and my husband enjoyed will be back
Very good food. And good beer selection. Definitely come back.
Nice atmosphere with good burgers.
Upscale chain restaurant and bar with great decor. Great menu. A bit pricey. Metered street parking. Huge bar and ample table seating.
We had a very enjoyable time with a large group for dinner. Our servers were attentive, and accurate to help all 15 of our guests. The food was generally good, but I think that my expectations were a bit high. The restaurant comes across as almost fine dining, and there are aspects of it, but the menu falls more into an upscale casual category for selection and price. The steak was decently well prepared, the sides were good, except the onion straws which were stale, for lack of a better word. My wife had a pasta dish which she enjoyed, and our 1-year old daughter destroyed a dish of their macaroni and cheese. The cocktails were also good, and a nice wine selection hence an upscale feel. In general, a good recommendation for a nice dining experience.
