Maypop is a modern, creative restaurant that fuses Southern and Asian cuisines. The menu is pleasantly short and changes every few weeks. My partner and I shared the summer melon salad, the toasted marrow bone topped with Georgia peach curry, and the homemade wok-fried egg noodles with jumbo gulf shrimp. All three dishes were delicious, like the Maypop pie for dessert. Highly recommended if you're looking for a refined and somewhat upscale dining experience.
My favorite restaurant in New Orleans was Maypop! The blend of Asian flavors and dishes fused with classic Louisiana food left me speechless! Each dish was beautifully crafted by Executive Chef Michael Gulotta, with the perfect balance of spices and flavor. My favorite dish of the night which is a must order is the Blue Crab Dumplings. They are topped with a delicious coconut milk and mushroom sauce bringing SO much flavor to the dish. The service was wonderful and the vibe was perfect for a fun Friday night out!
I love all the flavors of these creative dishes! I was a bit disappointed in the crispy oysters because they weren’t very crispy but they were still good. The noodles were delicious as was the fish! I love the amuse bouche and complimentary little desserts they bring out for you, tasty lagniappe! It’s just a bit pricey because it’s not all that filling.
What an INCREDIBLE restaurant!!!! I’m a solo traveller and was so excited to come here. Gutted that I could only order for 1 because I would’ve loved to try every dish! The food here is so unique and I loved the ingredients and combination of flavours. I’ve not eaten anything like this back home in London. The fried catfish was beautiful I rarely ever see catfish on a menu, and the sticky pork was out of this world. The bread is exceptional. @diningnotdashing
The menu is undoubtedly unique, with a combination of native New Orleans cuisine enhanced by the chef's travels/experiences in Asia. You definitely cannot find the same pairing of tastes and textures elsewhere. Each course has an incredible balance of flavors - rich sauces complimented by something tangy and fresh. The attention to detail, service attitude and knowledge, and creativity are top tier. It's a must-go in NOLA for any food enthusiasts, I especially loved the bone marrow appetizer.
Overall great place for dinner! Came here on a Monday evening with prior reservations so we were seated right away. It’s a modern and chic feel to the restaurant. Food was good—top favorites were Roasted Marrow Bone Topped with Georgia Peach Curry, Wok Fried Sticky Pork Shoulder, and Crispy Fried Oysters. The Hand-Pulled Lamian Noodles with Louisiana Blue Crab and Cambodian Marinated Skirt Steak were okay too. For dessert, try the Expresso Martini and the Halo Halo—both yummy!
Maypop is always a unique and delicious dining experience. Great happy hour, we took advantage of $6 glasses of wine and the steak steamed bun app. Fried oysters and Bibb lettuce salad were super tasty, as were our entrees. Will be back!
The experience was amazing. The second we walked in, the host made us feel special. Honestly the interaction made my day. The waitress was incredibly helpful, and service was prompt. Dessert was delicious. My husband's enjoyed their food. My one complaint is that there was surprise cilantro in my dish. If you have the cilantro tastes like soap gene, make sure to ask about cilantro. The server asked if we had sensitivities, and I said no, so it was definitely my fault. Just a heads up that cilantro is not always marked in the menut.
A group of my friends and I picked this place on a whim. We knew it was Asian fusion but didn't realize that some of the food had Southeast Asian flare. In particular Cambodian flavors. We all ordered a bunch of plates and liked every single one. The least we liked was the chicken wings, but it didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves. The atmosphere was nicely designed and the staff was wonderful. Southern charm they say.
I visited this place to surprise my sister whom I had met over the phone in April, but never in person. Thanks to a hometown friend she made it possible. The restaurant looks homie from outside but its very acceptable inside. It was very well kept with tables waiting for patrons. They have a ooen bar as well. The bathrooms are cleaned & up to date. I entered & waited while talking to Jeremy the host & sharing with him the plans. He was very polite & was willing to help with accommodating us at a bigger table once the surprise took place. Yes, she was surprise & shock, so she say she knew something was up. The food & drinks was awesome. The waiter was excellent. I had a fried catfish dish that had some tangy sauce that was perfect. I also had fried shrimp with fries, which the batter was too hard & was not needed. The shrimp was big & juicy. We were able to order a couple of dishes & shared amongst us 5. The cook is on point with seasoning & texture. Everything was cooked perfect. Vegetarian options: They do serve dishes that can be served to vegetarians.
