McAllen Municipal Pool

We had a private group party here. It was GREAT! Staff are attentive and nice. Pool was clean and a good size for our large group. We had a BLAST!

Lots of activity at the park today. Arbor Day celebration with planting of trees, 5K and 10K runs along with the kids one mile and a bicycle race, lots of vendors and activities. Great place to spend the day today.

I went to visit the pool with my daughter about a week ago. It was cloudy and there was a chance of rain and still went knowing that I ran the risk of thunder or lighting in which case I'd have to exit the pool. Sure enough, there was thunder and we had to leave. I used to lifeguard for the city a few years ago so I understand the policy. The thing that did upset me was that as we were leaving the staff had the restroom blocked off and weren't allowing people to change, shower, or even use the restroom. The guards were more interested in kicking people out. This was very unprofessional. People are in their soaking wet suits and NEED to change and shower. I've been a lifeguard for many years and no where in the lifeguard handbook or in the city policy does it say you have to leave the building, just get out of the water. The staff seemed more excited about closing early than accomodating the public.

Good place to take the family for a soak. Entrance fee is very inexpensive and the life guards are very attentive.
