The front desk staff was very nice and we were able to get a spot in the soaking pool last minute. Although I recommend getting a spot in advance if you’re planning a visit. They allow you to stop by the bar and grab a drink to bring with you into the pool, which was a highlight. There was quite a few people in the pool by the time we got there even though we visited during the week in the AM. We bought a locker for our stuff but unfortunately someone had just placed their stuff in our slot so we couldn’t lock it. It was too bad it was only an hour but the time flew by and it was definitely worth a visit. Next time I go I’ll book in advance and try and go at a less busy time.
We weren't sure what to expect since we hadn't been to a soaking pool before. Plan to spend a bit more time here than just an hour because you will want to explore the building. They have restaurants, bars, a movie theater, and I am sure even more. They take reservations by phone up to a week in advance. It costs $8, I recommend bringing cash for a quicker entry. Also, make sure you bring your own towel! We went to the bar in the building and they made us a delicious craft cocktail to bring into the soaking pool. It was so relaxing, even with a decent amount of people in there. This is definitely worth the stop! Note that if you are not staying at the Kennedy School Hotel, the hours to the public are shorter I think 10a-6p.
The building is so cool. Food is reliable if not a little overpriced. Service was good through happy hour. I love the movie theater, and the History Pub events. Cheese cake was a 4/10 but good cheese cake is hard to come by on the west coast.
This place is amazing and Sad at the same time. The amazing part…is when no kids are around, it is a jungle hot-tub paradise: palms, bamboo, bananas. etc. Salt-Water relaxing huge Hot-Tub. The sad part is how parents treat the pool as a babysitter and let their kids run crazy and disturb paying adults from trying to relax and have a drink. They should really stop allowing children in this adult tub. It’s not the proper fit.
Really great space. I kind of assumed that because you can drink in the pool, it wasn’t a kid centric environment but I was totally wrong. Tons of kids and babies in swim diapers. While I am not anti-kid, the soaking pool seems like a tough environment to explain to a child. It’s a pool but it’s not really a pool for playing in and it’s small so kids had to stick to a confined pool space as to not splash around other patrons. I would love if they brought back a kid free day or kid free time. I would happy pay a couple bucks more for that experience. Or maybe this is too restrictive, but I would at the very least like kids that use the pool to be potty trained and not in swim diapers? That’s a common practice in shared pool spaces given that they don’t contain urine and or liquid stool. It was a bit off putting to sit in diaper water and doesn’t seem super safe for immunocompromised individuals.
They took my money, and my ID for just 1 hour soak. And told me to knock the door to go in. 3 of them at the desk to watch me & laughed about it, while knock for a full 30 minutes, and didn't bother to help me get in. It wasn't worth losing a lot of time, stuck outside. and no one let me in. I have no interest in ever going back. Its not worth them taking my money and watching me not get in. It's not worth it. and the workers to be like that.
Wasn't quite warm enough. Bathroom is down the hall from the changing room. Area around the pool was littered with fallen leaves. Made it slippery around the pool.
I called this place two days before coming to Portland to ask how much the soaking pool was and the hours. They told me $8 per person and the pool hours are 8 am to 10 pm. That's all they said on the phone. I get there and I'm turned away saying that it's only open to hotel guests until 10:30 am and that I needed reservations. None of that was conveyed to me two days prior. They didn't care at all and pretty much acted we messed up. Honestly really poor customer service for a place that's supposed to be nice.
Used to be cool, but they changed their hours for the public recently - if you're not a hotel guest, you can only soak until 6:30PM. I remember going on dates and soaking here on Friday nights. I miss those days.
Omg I can't even express how much I love this place. The way they do the reservations makes sure it's never over crowded! The customers are chill and leave you alone and they offer plastic cups so you can have a beverage while you soak! Changing rooms and lockers are good sized and clean!
