Metro 808 Apartments

DISCLAIMER - they are now paying for positive reviews. BEWARE. A disaster of an apartment complex. New management has run this apartment complex into the ground. Almost all amenities are not working including the pool, all grills, and all fireplaces. There is absolutely no cleaning being done to hallways, stairwells, pool, gym, common areas, courtyards - It's disgusting to live here. Update: We are now experiencing an infestation of roaches and rats due to their lack of basic cleaning. There are feces in hallways and stairwells. A majority of the gates/doors do not close properly or lock which is a security concern as anyone can just walk into our apartment complex. Painting which has been a huge privacy concern as painters are just allowed on your balcony with no warning has been ongoing for 3 months with no sign of being done anytime soon. Now they are transitioning to painting interior which is incredibly inconvenient as well as replacing flooring. The gym has been moved to where the club house is so if you want to get a coffee you will have to try to dodge weights - not safe at all. This place is absolutely falling apart and has drastically changed my living experience. Not only did new management come in and not continue a proper cleaning schedule or required maintenance, they also raised rent $200+ for everyone. Don't believe the upgrades they claim to be doing on their website. Current residents were given the same lies during the transition of management only to find out there is no budget/plans for upgrades grills, courtyards, gym, common areas, etc for about 2+ years. Do yourself a favor - stay far away from 808 Hawthorne. There are plenty of other beautiful apartments with working amenities for a similar or cheaper price point in the area. This will be my last lease here and I cannot wait to leave. I used to love it here with old management but new management is creating an awful place to live. More photos to come.

My husband and I moved here about two months ago and have had nothing but positive experiences! Everyone on the staff is so kind and helpful, they’re quick to respond to maintenance requests, and overall the property seems to be managed and maintained well! This is definitely the nicest apartment we’ve lived in, and it’s within walking distance of so many great local spots. I would recommend living here!

Ever since new management took over a few months ago, this complex has turned into the ghetto. Trash is consistently piling up, they removed the garage gate and didn’t start construction on the new one for months so there were so many random people coming in and out and parking here, there’s no on site security guard, packages are ALWAYS getting stolen, and of course management does NOTHING. They are making these small changes to the place that no one cares about, and raising the rent a crazy amount. This place is definitely not worth the money they are charging for rent!

All the negative reviews you see are spot on. Management is terrible. They start projects and never complete them. Haven't had a garage gate for about 5 months now, even with all the break ins reported. Hallways are dirty and garbage piles up everywhere. If you put in a maintenance request don't expect it to be completed for about 3 weeks or more. Honestly I'm not sure what this place is thinking, but it's almost as if the management is purposely trying to run this place into the ground. Definitely won't be renewing my lease and everyone I talk to says the same thing. Wouldn't recommend 808 Hawthorne to my worst enemy.

I have lived in this apartment complex for almost 3 years. Once Hawthorne residential took over, they promised a lot of new amenities, raised our rent, and have never finished any of the changes. Because of this, they started a garage renovation over 3 months ago, have left the garage door open, and now we have a person living under the stairwell next to the garage. I have contacted management 3 times and they have only told me to call the cops myself and have not looked into it since he’s been living here for a week. I thought greystar our previous rental company was bad but Hawthorne residential is even worse. Running this place into the ground. I am paying over $1,000 to not have adequate amenities and to have someone live under our stairwell rent free. There are many better apartments to live in around plaza and all throughout Charlotte. Please don’t give into hawthornes lies

Been here about 7 months now and we know we won’t be resigning. Tried to look past the negative reviews but they’re so spot on. Trash everywhere, no garage gate, terrible management company and just way too expensive for the lack of amenities and trash. Can’t even exit through my courtyard because the gate has been locked for weeks due to “maintenance” although nothing has changed. Please don’t believe the good reviews and find somewhere else to rent from, you won’t regret it.

Great apartment complex in an incredible neighborhood. Due to some abrupt life changes I unfortunately had to leave my lease early. I am incredibly thankful to Shel Stewart, one of the managers there, who really made the process of leaving my lease early as painless as possible. It was her kindness and understanding throughout the whole ordeal that is the basis of my 5 star review. I've lived in a number of different apartment complexes and rarely have a received service at this level.

I moved here about a month ago and have had nothing but great service with new management! The staff is awesome and have been quick to address any questions and have a lot of improvements planned. The community is already really nice, so I'm excited to see they want to make changes to make it even better! The ladies in the office are super sweet and helpful and maintenance was really friendly when I passed them in the hall and even asked how my move went and did I need anything! I love all the places that are in walking distance and the trees that surround the building make you forget you are in a city. You don't see that in uptown! Move here! You won't regret it!

Great place to live in an awesome location! The new management company is making changes to the community that look so much nicer and the staff genuinely cares about their residents. They have been so helpful and kind and Tina in maintenance is awesome! The renovations so far look great and there is a lot more they plan to do to the property this fall. You can get to uptown in minutes on the light rail right outside the building and there are cool places to eat and drink in walking distance. My dog loves walks around the block and in the courtyards. We always stop by the office where my pup gets a dog treat and I get a cappuccino. Win, win! I would definitely recommend living here.

Although I'm not looking to move until a few months from now, I wanted to get started early looking at apartments. I went on a tour yesterday at Metro 808 that was conducted by Kelly. I enjoyed the tour; was very impressed by the apartment I was shown and the amenities in the complex. Kelly was great through the whole process. She engaged me from the beginning by asking questions and having conversations about my current living situation in order to help find the right fit for me. I have other apartment tours planned but I utterly impressed with Metro 808 and at this point I may be doing these other tours just to do my due diligence in my apartment searches.
