Finally I've found a decent banh mi in Europe that compares to the Vietnamese bakeries in Sydney that I miss so much - only these are better because they're on a French baguette. I also asked for extra chilli and they obliged. Very happy!
FOOD & DRINKS I am a bit critical when it comes to Banh Mi. I always prefer a Vietnamese baguette but I understand that in Paris you go for the traditional French baguette instead. And since we are in the heart of Paris and the French love their bread, it was good. For me, the huge amount of carrots was more of an issue. In my opinion it was too much plus I like my veggies pickled. SERVICE Someone took my order at the front and the Vietnamese family made the baguette in the background. Can’t say much about friendliness and hospitality. ATMOSPHERE This is grab and go only. RATING The banh mi was good and for a quick bite on the go I would consider this place.
Before leaving Paris on a roadtrip, we decided to stop by Saigon Sandwich for some bahn mi's to go. The small storefront was packed whilst we ordered, and the traffic is easy to understand. The sandwiches are very reasonably priced, fresh and come in a tasy, crisp baguette. My order, a lemongrass chicken sandwich, was okay, the bread a highlight, but otherwise lacked the freshness I usually crave in a bahn mi. On the other hand, my girlfriend's order, 'the classic', was good, with a balanced tandem of savoury elements and fresh. Overall, if I was looking for a quick and tasty meal in the area, I definitely wouldn't say no to Saigon Sandwich.
reminds me of home!! haven't got a chance to try other banh mi places but Saigon Sandwich is already my go-to Vietnamese banh mi.
Hole-in-the-wall banh mi take out place. Great sandwiches; quite big in size and very cheap.
Not bad, but unfortunately my baguette was not as crisp as I would like it. Plus the filling, though tasty, was not what I was expecting. Generally the crowds are there mainly for the satay beef, so I’d suggest you go round the corner to Sandwich 17 if you’re after the sliced pork, pate etc. fillings.
Excellent I tried one had another then ordered 6 to take with me back to london
I am staying at a nearby hostel & my cousin told me about this place. The sandwiches are delicious & extremely affordable. I got a sandwich and a soy bean drink for €4 and some change, which is cheaper than what I can find back home. My French is pretty non-existent so I relied on my Vietnamese speaking skills. The ladies were very friendly and gave me tips on how to keep safe while in town and ideas on what to do for New Years. I plan on getting a sandwich for most of my breakfast!
Missing grilled pork thit nuong option you'd normally see in other Vietnamese banh mi shops but they did have a grilled beef option. They also had chicken as well as the typical dac biet sandwich with Asian cold cuts, pate, and their own meatballs. Prices are excellent. I believe it was around 4.5€ for a regular foot long sandwich and 5.5€ for the mega 18" size. By far the best food deal around. And it was pretty delicious.
I've tried several Bahn Mi place around the area. This is the best I've had. They are very generous with their filling and the baguette itself it's pretty solid and crispy, which are something the others aren't doing. Overall theres alot of texture in every bite, a humble and honest tasty bahn mi.
