This is a traditional, cute little place in Prospect Heights. The inside is cozy and the service was approachable and authentic. The food was not stellar, but it was made with care and had that house made touch that comforts you. Highlight of my meal was the sweet potato pie slice. It also tasted like a grandma recipe kind of pie, and the spices and texture were just on point.
We were greeted by a lady who was happy to see us. Quickly ordered 2 sandwiches- pork chop and catfish for take away. Both sandwiches were really good, fresh and homemade. Short walk from where we were staying.
Cornbread was Awesome! Had the Cat Fish dinner. That was really good. This place is worth trying if your ever in the City
They sell soul food and the food is good. When I go I always get the smothered pork chops, potato salad, collard greens and cornbread. I have dined in with others and they also enjoyed their food. The food is genuine soul food and it’s delicious.
Stopped in after doing some loops in Prospect Park for a post-ride meal. I demolished a plate of ribs and side of collard greens so quickly that, though I have very little memory of what the food actually was like, it must have been delicious. After talking with a barman up the block, learned that these guys have been around for a long time, and it shows in the food. Don't put your feet up on the seats like I did, and don't forget this spot is cash only.
The food was decent, but not worth the price that they’re charging. The place looks like it’s under kept, and the lady didn’t even greet me. She’s sitting in a chair at the table, taking orders. She got he hair in scraf, and you’ll pay 20 for four pieces of chicken and two sides.
We were very satisfied with the food. Worth every dollar. If you're in Brooklyn, NY... and need a good southern meal, this is where you go! 2022Food: 5/5
The dinner menu may look a little pricey for a small restaurant such as this but it is totally worth the value and easily can be shared. The classic fried chicken with white meat was moist and had just enough flavor. The okra and corn was cooked very well and I wished I had ordered two as my sides but alas I didn't go wrong by ordering the cornbread sweet. The venue has seating in the front and in the back with a small tour of the kitchen as u walk through.
Good humble food. If u r starving, they serve a healthy size of meal. Service is straightforward and unpretentious. If u r lucky enough like me, u could have a free pound cake and hear the madame of the cafe belt out some good vocals together with the tunes on the radio! I gave 4 stars cos it is cash only! #buyblack
This place fell off hard! They are not as good as they were in the 90's and 00s and mostly everything was just meh and boring. I know what good soul food is and this isn't it. The mac and cheese was mad nasty and lacked flavor, no soul at all. My husband had the fried chicken and he said it tasted old and dry and made his stomach upset. I had the turkey wings which tasted ok. The portions were really small. The banana pudding was good though. I won't be back, just go to 95 south or sugar hill, their food is tastier.
