Modern Nail Bar

I went to this nail bar simply because I didn’t feel like driving anywhere outside of Navy Yard. Bonus points for being open later than most salons as of this review, they’re open until 9pm! Michele did my *Dip Powder w/extensions* meaning nail tips with powder color + gel top coat. She was very detailed and thorough, plus she didn’t get frustrated that I kept asking her to adjust the shape of my nails here and there. I liked that she was very quiet and polite sometimes I really don’t feel like talking for an hour straight, but not stand-offish. My walk-in service with Michele was very pleasant, and I will definitely ask for her next time. Price is standard for the NCR. Comparable to everywhere else, and no crazy add-on charges. Despite the existing reviews, I recommend this nail bar.

I don’t normally write reviews but I am very unsatisfied with my toes nails. I got them done on Saturday 07/16 and today Sunday 07/17 one of my toes nails fell of. I am never going to that place ever again bad service.also This place is never on time. My appointment was one hour late on when I come to ask how long they told me until one of the coworkers lady’s finished with one customer,I have been going here for a couple of months and will not be returning. Due to mismanagement on the booking/business side, you will get an appointment only to arrive and have to wait increasingly longer times to get seen.I had to wait that long just to get this. The chape is not on place and she didn’t want to fix it. I also ask her to put tip on it she said no. I also told her I can pay extra. She answer back saying no. I don’t know what’s wrong with this people but I don’t like the way they act with customers that brings money to there place and also tip them.Service: Pedicure

I don’t normally write reviews but I am very unsatisfied with my nails. They are very chunky and not smooth and started peeling after 2 days. Also, I got SNS but she added a top coat of gel and it’s very bumpy and not smooth at all with lines galore. I went back to get them “fixed” but they just wanted to add more gel top coat. Not exactly what I did not want. I wanted them smoothed out. Plus, I was cut 2 times. I sadly would not recommend this salon. ESP for the price.

This place is wonderful with friendly staff who will listen to your needs. The interior is beautiful and clean. I always love what they do with my nails, usually I ask for acrylics or dip powder. Attached pic is a dip powder color mix that Ben created

This place has really poor technique so please believe the reviews and just save your time, energy, and money. I thought I had a really simple and quick order so thought my service would honestly be hard to mess up. I went today to get old gel polish removed from my hands and toes, and then get a simple pedicure. Not only did the lady file down the gel completely to the nail bed on my fingers only for it not get off completely, but was also physically picking at the gel to try to take the gel off my hands and toes. I had to tell her to stop picking at it because it physically hurt--never it my days have I witnessed a nail tech physically try to pull off old polish. On top of it, I was a walk-in. I knew I would probably have to wait a bit longer to be seen, but I had time and didn't mind after hearing the quote time be 30 minutes. But, I kid you not, I sat there for 2 hours. When I entered, I thought only about two other people were a ahead of me, but they then proceeded to have about 5 appointments after I walked in--so clearly they were busy for this small salon. But you guys know or should know your books and if you do not have time to squeeze someone it, just be honest about it. I promise you that would go a long way instead of getting all these bad reviews that you are clearly not learning from.

I have never written a review before, but the absolute sham that this place is prompted me to warn others!! If I could give this 0 stars, I would. Absolutely terrible, unprofessional service with poor quality manicures and pedicures. I made an appointment at 10am through the online portal for an acrylic manicure, pedicure and eyebrow wax. At 10am no one was there, and I waited until 10:15am for a single employee to open the shop. At the time, it was myself and another woman waiting. At about 10:15-10:20am the employee took the other woman and let me know she was "calling the other employees" and they would be there in 15-20 minutes. 30 minutes later she said it would still be "15-20 minutes." At one point, there were 8 people waiting and 1 employee. Additional employees finally arrived around 11. The employee who had first opened the shop had completely finished the pedicure before I was seen after over an hour of waiting WITH an appointment. In waxing my eyebrows, she burst a blood vessel under my eyebrow from ripping the paper off harshly. The pedicure was fine, the acrylic nails were awful and thicker/wider at the edge of the nail and overall very sloppy. Less than 24 hours later, they had already chipped! When checking out I pointed out that I had waited over an hour for the service and asked if there was anything they could do, to which they said no and charged me $115 for the poor services. Please save your time and money and book services at any of the other Navy Yard salons like Cosmopolitan, Mimosa, or Lux in Capitol South. I strongly recommend not coming to this salon!!Services: Waxing

Extremely DISAPPOINTED in the lack of service! If I could give ZERO stars I would. I stayed in the Marriot Hotel that this business leases space from. It was recommended to me by the front desk. I proceeded to head to get a manicure. A MANICURE! I was told that I couldn’t be serviced and that should come back in 4 hours or call for an appointment. Then a Caucasian woman entered the nail salon and asked for a gel manicure and pedicure. SHE WAS TOLD TO HAVE A SEAT. Directly afterwards a Caucasian male came in to ask for an eyebrow service. He was taken IMMEDIATELY. Why wasn’t I being serviced? I asked for an explanation and then the gentleman started acting like he couldn’t speak English. Obviously he was not going to service this BLACK WOMAN but was able to service every white patron that came in after me. I traveled to DC for the United States Congressional Swearing in. I am appalled at the outright racism that I experienced. I will be sure to forward this information to the appropriate parties. This business doesn’t deserve your money!!Service: Manicure

Waited over an hour after my appointment time to be helped only to have them start soaking my nails and take another 40 mins before starting on my dip manicure. They did a good job on my manicure but it wasn’t worth the wait. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you are prepared to spend your day waiting.Services: Dip powder
