Contrary to their Twitter which promotes "Healthy Learning" and Innovative forms of education, many of the teachers hired here still treat students like children, as opposed to young adults, forcing them to give them their phones at the beginning of class, and assigning seats. Even though they claim students shouldn't be getting more than 2 hours of homework per night, some teachers will assign more than that for only 1 class. Some teachers here are really awesome and understand how modern education should work, and hopefully they can work with other teachers are improve the state of this school. As a side note, the district (Douglas County) has high school starting at 7:30, reducing sleep which leads to stress, poor academic performance, and overall fatigue. This is not to blame of Mountain Vista though, but something to keep in mind if you are planning to enroll a student in the Douglas County School District.

Next year I am going to be a sophomore, and I'm very excited about it! My freshman year was great - I had amazing connections with my teachers, got good grades, and made new friends. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. The atmosphere is welcoming, clean, and radiant. I, personally have not seen any bullying in the school. If you are looking to enroll, Mountain Vista (in my opinion) is a great school!

Love the education, I feel challenged & I like the people.
My long winded point is there are too many poeple.
But there is the problem there is too many people. Due to the Open & Rolling they let so many into the kids into this school were it is impossible to get lunch & eat it. Yea, you can get a lunch, sit down but that is about it. By the time you do that there isn't time to eat the food. Bringing you own lunch to school is a great Idea, and that is normally what I do. I will put my lunch in my Backpack and then you can barley sit down with your friends. So there is a second option. You can sit in the hall ... WELLL nope. You can only sit at the top of the stairs because they trap you in the lunch room (The Cafeteria/What ever you want to call it) for some reason, I'm sure it is for a good reason but ughhh.

The theatre program is amazing, there's lots of friends to be made, and creative writing is really fun. English is 70% learning what will be important next year but never again after that, Math is ridiculously boring followed by several hours of homework, the teachers start assigning homework like there's no day-after-tomorrow in sophomore year, and world language leaves a great deal to be desired. Overall the endless work, boring rote memorization people like to call lessons, and start time are the dealbreaker.
