One of my favorite parts about this station besides the mosaics and tile artwork, is the curve on the downtown platform. Seeing your train pulling into the station from around the bend is a majestic sight for any person, train lover or not.
This station Only has R and W trains running through it. Such a lie to aay N and Q goes through here. The only way that happens is if huge delays/track problems occur on the express lines.
Stop is next to the Flatiron Building and Madison Square Park. It is not far from Baruch College. The station is small and, I think, unmanned by MTA personnel. Separate entrances for uptown and downtown trains. One neat thing about the platform is that the walls have hats of many famous celebrities who lived in the Chelsea neighborhood from 1880-1920. The hats are positioned on the wall at the height where they would have been had the person been wearing the hat. So the wait is not boring.
Nice subway station. Isn't the cleanest but what ones are, am i right? Easy to get down to the subway and it's easy to get on and off. Great experience nonetheless.
Very clean subway station!! It’s one of busy places!!
this station lets you off near the iconic triangle block that defines this area as the flat iron district... there's also the famous tiffany clock ..I think that's what it's called.
Coming up on this station already in the train can be a sort of surprise. This is a good station to know where you are going once you get out - because they are very different terrains at opposite ends. The station is small and dingey. Not dirty - but - old. Going out of the station at the 21 end....you can go through the floor to ceiling turnstile - or - like a bunch of people - just go through the emergency door. One issue is the door stops/cuts off the flow of people going through the "correct" way.
There are large variety of things to eat and to shop for
Who will ever know there is N train here without any street signs!?
This is where Kendra Webdale got struck by an N train on this station, when she was pushed by Andrew Goldstein in 1999. 7 years later, Goldstein pleaded guilty of manslaughter and sentence to jail for 23 years.
