Has lots of cool things, from the prison's past, to see. Lots of information on the history of the prison and of it's inmates. There is a fee to tour the building. There is also a gift shop that has some pretty neat memorabilia. They even have old fashioned jail cell locks and keys for sale. And they look like old locks that were actually used. All in all, I had loads of fun!

Interesting, if not racially insensitive displays of the history of the local prison system. Entrance is $8 for adults, but the value isn't really there given the total collection only requires about 4000 sq ft. I've been through many more interesting museums that were free or had lower entrance fees.

We had about an hour to kill so we stopped to check out the museum and it was well worth it. They supply a booklet that explains each exhibit for those who want to explore on their own or an mp3 player with an audio guide through the museum. There is a gift shop, clean restrooms, and a comprehensive history of the Colorado prison system. What a treasure!

A MUST VISIT. Colorado history at its finest! Expect to spend 2-4 hours taking in the vast collection of memorabilia and artifacts. The gas chamber on-site is an eye-opener. many children could benefit from a visit to this facility. Check Groupon for discount tickets. Buy the $1 tour book. It supports the museum and it is a great tool for a self-guided tour. There is a park nearby, so make it a picnic day!
