This place is awesome. My first time in the store all three employees were super friendly, very helpful and filled my head with a wealth of knowledge. I literally walked out with a higher IQ. Thanks!

Big fans-whole Family (2 kids, 2 parents) has taken a variety of lessons here-guitar, piano, drums, bass guitar, ukulele, and voice lessons. Teachers are great and patient with fidgety toddlers up to the seasoned dad rocker. We have also had good luck finding sheet music and special ordering instruments not in stock. Christmas caroling and Camp have been great too. I can't imagine the Hill without Music on the Hill!

My daughter and I have been taking music lessons at Music on the Hill for several months. I am pleased not only with the quality of their teachers, but also their customer service at the store itself. It is a wonderful neighborhood gem.

These people know nothing about music or musical instruments and don't care about the customer. I brought in my violin to be re-strung and to get sheet music for a certain piece of music in a certain key. I asked for it to be in A-flat major, and they gave it to me in A-major, and then even argued with me, trying to tell me that it was in the A-flat (the key signatures look very different). When I got my violin home, I was surprised that they didn't give it a rough tuning - until I found out that they couldn't have possibly tuned it, since they didn't even put the strings through the holes in the pegs, they just wrapped them around the pegs! Wow.

Virtually the only musical instrument store in DC, which is in itself shocking. It's geared towards more popular tastes in musical instruments - such as instruments common in Rock music. It's a bit small, but that's the nature of stores in a city with property values like DC. The staff I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. They let me play their guitars, too - Although I've never been to a store where this is not the case. They also have paid lessons and free sessions.
