Best place in Raleigh for NC Calabash style fried seafood. They have broiled fish too, but fried is the name of the game here. The scallops are scallop nuggets, multi-scallop amalgamations pressed into disk shape. Not terrible, but not like whole sea scallops either. Shrimp and flounder are the stars imo. Nothing fancy, just good fried NC seafood. Also, the portions are huge. The fried popcorn shrimp platter with hush puppies, fries, and slaw ($12.49) will easily feed two hungry people, maybe with leftovers. If you like very lightly breaded fried shrimp, you can't do better than this without driving to the beach.

I understand every restaurant has a bad day.
I haven't EXPERIENCED THAT not once here. This is the BEST seafood in Raleigh. I challenge anyone to find me better.
When something is actually GOOD and you bash it, that makes you a HATER. Don't be a Hater your whole LIFE. I'm one of the greatest EATERS alive. This place rocks.

NC Seafood Restaurant seems to always be the place to be when you are coming to the NC State Farmers Market. The lines start forming before they open on the weekends. If you come pn a week day you might be lucky avoid the long lines. They always have at least two people taking orders, making it easier to just ring you up at the cash registers. In my opinion I find the plates to be slightly expensive. I wish they would give side options instead of a plate always coming with french fries, hush puppies and slaw. They have excellent seafood options and your food is always fresh. I love how the tables always have tartar sauce & cocktail sauce on them. Their tartar sauce is my favorite!

A wonderful place for seafood. Do not count calories, just indulge and behave later. Broiled seafood is available. If there when the vendors are at the open air stalls as well as the indoor vendors...It can be a fun place to pick up fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, plants, floral arrangements, etc. Free samples are everywhere.
The local meat market which specializes in pork products is a chance to visit an authentic butcher shop. Prices are very reasonable.
A great outing especially in the Spring and Fall. If you like buying fresh produce in bulk...visit the big open building/barn which is only open on Saturday mornings.
Do barter ...you may hear an occasional YES.... Early risers get the best deals...so get there early and enjoy fresh N.C. seafood for lunch and dinner.

Great fresh seafood. Not fancy but consistently good quality. If you are looking for picknick style seafood this is a great choice. Weekends will be busy during regular lunch times.
