Small take-out food counter at the entrance to the supermarket with big portions, delicious food, and very affordable prices. I had the roast pork over rice for $6.50, and I was contently satisfied.
I've been shopping here for several years now about 21. I love the selection of plates and cups and teas you can get downstairs. Especially, the flowering tea balls. On the main floor you'll find most of the sauces and spices at reduced prices that you may want to cook with. In the back in the freezer section are plenty of dumplings and frozen buns. There are lower prices at some of the other grocery stores for these items but this is Canal Street after all. Their duck is rather good. A little more star anise and the dipping sauce and I particularly care for but it's really good. I haven't had an issue being followed by people in the store like I do at some other stores which I appreciate. And over the years I've only had maybe two or three people be rude to me at the counter which might be chalked up to their bad days. Nothing bad enough to keep me from shopping there.
This and Hong Kong Supermarket are the best places to go for 1 stop Asian goods- shopping. Where this shop excels and separates itself from the competition is downstairs - HUGE loose tea selection, good restaurant quality smallwares plates, bowls and suck selection and some decent knives to boot. The roast pork belly when you first walk in is pretty good too.
I am not sure why this store is highly rated. Went there today, dont even have fresh meat and vegetables. And the store is old and stinky. I give two stars because I think the price for prepared food is reasonable. Didnt try it yet The cashier was nice to me.
fun place to buy asian packaged foods, snacks, seasoning, condiments, cups and plates. Update, their basement offerings have changed and are more updated with face products. Good place to get quick gifts. Not the friendliest service but who cares!
I used to visit this supermarket frequently, that was almost 30 years old. there is little change here so it brought back lots of memories ! I loved the variety of ready-to-eat meats from their deli department . Also there are stands outside the entrance selling exotic fruits.
This is my favorite asian supermarket of all times. Some things more expensive here than in other places, some are cheaper, just like everywhere. The best advantage of this supermarket that it has three floors: kitchenware, food and beauty with some anime and kpop style souvenir section
Large oriental supermarket conveniently located on Canal Street in Chinatown, just a few minutes’ walk from the subway station. They occupy three floors. Kitchenware in the basement. Large variety of Japanese beauty products take up the entire top floor. Beauty product prices are heavily marked up. Cooked-to-order food is also available on the main level.
My #1 market in NY. This place has been around for many years, got reasonable prices, and original Chinese tea, food, and tablewear. Their "Made in Japan" items are as much made in Japan as Prada items in China Town are actually Prada. But that you know.
Huge selection of fresh vegatables Fresh meats and fresh fruits. Great prices
