My daughter had a tonsillectomy about 12 days ago. Unfortunately this morning she had some bleeding. Per her surgeon’s recommendation, I took her to Beth’s pediatric ER dept. I was a bit lost since I came in, thru the main entrance. Once I made it to pediatrics, the first person I saw was a nurse named Chris. I asked him where can I register my daughter and with no hesitation, he found someone to register my daughter and walked us to a room. The whole overnight staff were so helpful and nice. The doctor was also so good with my daughter. I really can’t thank them enough!
This review is specific to the billing department. This issue never happened to me before, and it was ridiculous. I visited my doctor for a prenatal cardiology consultation because I had a heart condition about 10 years ago. The service was done in June. I had to pay my copay on-site to the reception on the same day of the service. There was some complication when I was trying to pay the bill. The receptionist had to try multiple times and asked for her supervisor's help to complete the charge. I thought that was it. I received a statement a few weeks later about an unpaid $50 copay. I called my insurance company and asked them if I was responsible for the extra $50 copay because on my insurance card it said I only have one copay per each specialist visit. The insurance representative said I wasn't responsible for it and he called up the billing department and discussed the manner with me. The hospital billing department representative said she was not able to find two claims 2 copays in the system at the time and she had to talk to someone. She complained that the system was built on Mainframe and was super hard to use that normally no one would log in and check. This was unbelievable. Why was it my problem? And because of that, I had to pay the $50 which was most likely a mistake. However, a week later the billing department called me and asked me to pay the $50 balance. The hospital asked me to send the credit card statement via email. I have sent it to three different email addresses and each time when I called to follow up if they received the statement or not, different people told me to use different emails. I end up sending emails three times and eventually I gave up and sent the postal mail. A few weeks later, the hospital billing department called me again and said they never received the payment or payment proof. And she harassed me that they will send my balance to the credit collection agency by the end of September. Today, I finally decided to pay the $50 because I was tired of being harassed during my last few days of pregnancy. I would never go to this hospital anymore. Please save yourself the trouble and not go to this hospital.
My 11 month old baby is sick and I first went to Clara Maass Hospital where I had a bad experience due to misdiagnosing of doctor. I then came here to Beth Israel and I love it, our nurse Bernardo is the best he is so sweet and hard working. He is very caring and super professional. He started IV for my baby and he did not cry, not even one tear, did not even react, he has great hands. Will recommend 100% this place and will continue to come here. Will also forever talk about the great experience with Bernardo, he is the BEST. thank you!!
The ER wait is extremely incredible I've been here 7 hours waiting to be seen. NEVER AGAIN. very unclean and unprofessional. Nurse sit around doing nothing or on their phones while the emergency room is full. It takes three hours just to go get vitals done then you would have to wait another 3hours to get placed in a room. I had asked the nurse how long and she told me I had to sit and wait.
Dr. Clarke in the cancer center is amazing, very welcoming and informative. My mom felt comfortable and safe in his care. The other staff, not so much. The medical assistant in the Cancer Center, Lanasia was extremely rude. Upon entering the room, she didn’t introduce who she was, or what kind of assistance she was providing. She then went on to say it was too many people in the room, so my sister was attempting to leave. When I asked Lanasia about it, she ignored me. The room is very big, it’s not like a regular examination room. Her entire bedside manner was trash. The way she was speaking to my mom while attempting to get her oxygen level, WHILE SHE’S WEARING A MASK was terrible. It felt like she didn’t care and that she didn’t like helping cancer patients or any patient at all. Upon leaving, I asked what her name was and she ignored me again, I had to walk her down and ask to see her ID. Extremely rude.
We have been followed at NBIMC since we found my wife was pregnant with twins and was a high risk pregnancy. We probably did 10 ultrasounds or so and had numerous consultations with high risk doctors. My wife started labor at 31 weeks and was in labor for 5 days!!. She delivered our babies, they had to go to NICU and thankfully they are healthy and everything is going well. I cannot tell you how happy I am for choosing this Hospital an thank everyone that crossed our paths so far in this hospital. I mean everyone! Super nice, knowledgeable and patient staff is what you’re going to find at this hospital. We definitely recommend!
Do not go here! Go to overlook, make the extra distance if possible especially if you want to go to the emergency room. I was there for 12 hours and had minimal communication as to what was going on. Transport brought me to the wrong area, the waiting room is terrible. I had a miscarriage and the ultrasound technician was complaining to me how cold it was while I was literally still bleeding. There were no OB’s because it was a Sunday so DONT HAVE A MEDICAL EMERGENCY ON WEEKEND . There are a few helpful members of staff but all in all I felt disregarded, unimportant, and seen as a number or a case study for residents as opposed to a human being who needed attention and care.
My daughter recently underwent surgery for toe walking. Dr Alice Chu and the entire medical center staff were wonderful! I want to thank all the staff/nurses for their kindness and love, especially nurse Rebecca who was very pleasant and helped me bring my daughter to the car. Thank you all
This hospital has the worst waiting time. Came in 10pm its 2:46am still no one show up. First thing done is insurance information taken and they make you wait. Crazy never again, you should hire better and efficient people working!
Worst Dental care department !!! A Big shame on the Dental Surgeon out there !! I went in emergency visit , my wisdom tooth was paining i was with headache pain and jaw pain and ear pain too !! They told me wait untill 2 pm for extraction !! Waited from 9:30 to 2 pm . Was called inside and waited another 2 hours just to know that dental surgeon cant do the wisdom tooth extraction on its own and feel its difficult job for her !! I mean what the hell are you practicing in a hospital then !!! doctors dont know what to do and they call them dentist !! Surely must have fake credentials to get that job there !! Newark beth israel needs to kick such useless fake dentists. In 8 hour duty you just come and ask me that whats your name and sorry i cant do the extraction !! Wow what a waste of career.
