Most are very helpful and respectful. I feel that rooms when unoccupied should be monitored so theft of property can be minimized. Heard one resident complaining. Overall, caring for disabled ones is not an easy job. I feel that here the staff has a grip on it. Thank you.
I don’t want to say anything negative about the facility. A few of the staff members were very nice to my brother, professional , they really tried to help him. They cared about his wellbeing and informed me of his progress while a patient there. There were a number of employees that were disrespectful, dishonest , unprofessional and untrustworthy. They’ve in fact, should favoritism to certain patients and other patients the staff ignored them. One in particular was mentally and verbally abusive behavior with my relative. They were to personally involved in our family business affairs that had nothing to do with them in the first place. My family member was discharged but we found out two weeks later they transferred his funds to their facility without his permission and against the family’s consent. Overall, he needs were met but no without the bad behavior or some staff members. He wasn’t very happy how they treated and spoke to him. That’s one of the reasons why he wanted to be released for the nursing home. Our family is considering legal action if this matter isn’t resolved in a reasonable time. This is very important and hurtful since we’ve cooperated with the facility to provide assistance for my family members care while staying there. It’s not the owners fault it’s some of the employees, who have bad manners, attitude issues, lack communication skills and the true meaning of care for sick patient’s. They don’t care. It about themselves and the money. Overall, I would like to thank them for their support and understanding of this situation. It wasn’t easy for any of us. There are some people there, that abuse authority and took it upon themselves to make decisions that they weren’t authorized to make. There was no signatures or notarized letters from the courts. Hopefully, this matter will be resolved in the near future. The accountability relies on the owners and those that are in charge of the patients care. I recommend this facility but some changes should be made to find employees that take the job seriously , those who genuinely care about the people they care about. They have 4 out of 5. Thank you for serving the public and my family member. You are appreciated. Please forward all mail to the person’s forward address that was requested in the New York area or local post office on E124 street between Lexington and park. They will deliver it to the consumers address. Thank you!
The nursing home in Northern Manhattan generally provides good care for its residents. However, I need to point out a few issues on the 4th floor that require immediate attention. It appears there is a lack of effective supervision by the head of the maintenance department. One major problem is the ice machine on this floor, which is operational only about 2% of the time. It is essential, especially as we approach the warmer months, that this machine be repaired or replaced promptly. Residents, particularly the elderly, often prefer cold drinks with their meals, and the absence of ice can significantly diminish their dining experience. Additionally, the air conditioning on the 4th floor is inadequate. Recently, when outdoor temperatures approached 80 degrees, the air conditioning vents continued to emit hot air, leading to uncomfortable conditions for staff, residents, and visitors like myself. This is particularly concerning for elderly individuals who are more susceptible to heat-related stress. I have observed that other floors within the facility have functional air conditioning, indicating that this issue is specific to the 4th floor. Ensuring a comfortable living and working environment is crucial for both the well-being of the residents and the productivity of the staff. I urge you to address these issues promptly. I plan to follow up soon to review the progress on these matters. Thank you for your attention to these urgent concerns. Follow up 6/14/24 Circling back to update my review of Northern Manhattan, I want to congratulate the team responsible for the remarkable progress made on the 4th in such a short period of time. The new larger ice maker is a welcome sight for residents, staff, and guests. New wall-mounted AC units have been installed in residents' rooms, making them much more comfortable. The common area hallways are also now comfortably cooled. However, while the lounge area and dining room have been fitted with temporary portable units providing moderate relief, these units are not large enough to efficiently cool the large dining area. I am hopeful that the existing wall-mounted units will be fixed or replaced soon. I want to thank the facilities owner for responding to this post and taking prompt action to remedy the deficiencies. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and make a significant difference in the residents' comfort and well-being.
I was delayed getting to my appointment via public transportation, overv1.5 hours and tried to call several times. I finally got through and explained all. When I arrived they took me right in. What a relief to be able to see Dr. Oh and follow up with my treatment. Thank you everyone!
This place definitely ranks as one of the worst places to send your loved one. Any positive reviews are definitely coming from management, not family members or patients. My mom was supposed to be on 24 hr oxygen, came in to visit and she was sitting in the wheelchair with the oxygen on empty. I immediately put her on the oxygen concentrator. She had to use the rest room so we unplugged to plug in the bathroom wall and the wall outlet was busted. Another place with no staff, another place not to leave your loved ones who need oxygen on 24 hrs. They don’t care. These places are a death sentence.
Thank you to all of the Staff at NM who were so helpful during my recent stay. In particular I would like to thank Bibi Persaud, the Head Nurse on the 8th Floor, the Physical Therapy Team and Andrea Matias, one of the Social Workers. Bibi is not only a great nurse, but a great source of strength and support at all times - I will never forget this and wish Bibi, all of the other nurses the very best!
