I will admit that we started out on the wrong foot with the Snow Lodge because of an issue with our reservation. We had booked 2 nights in the snow lodge cabins specifically because we would have our dog with us and the cabins are pet friendly. We arrive and find out they have "upgraded" us to the hotel without knowledge of us having our dog. Every cabin was already taken so they had no choice but to put us in a room with our dog in the non-dog friendly hotel. They did put us on the first floor which makes it easier for the dog, but we clearly didn't belong there. I felt uncomfortable because I know I may have been making the guests and staff uncomfortable.
The room was very nice. Every amenity you would expect and it was very clean and orderly. The bed was not that great and we didn't notice until the second night that all the fluffy pillows were put on one bed and the harder pillows on the other (my husband and I were put in a room with 2 queens). Unfortunately, we chose the bed with the harder pillows.
The walls are not very sound proof. The hallway of the hotel was very wide which made it very echo-y. We could also hear our neighbors at times.
We were here during a cross country move and road trip so the timing of our visit wasn't flexible - we stayed there May 2 - 4. This time of year has very limited services. The only option for dinner if you want to eat after 5pm is the expensive Obsidian Dining Room. Same for breakfast - if you want to eat before 9am, Obsidian is all that is open. This became very frustrating since we were trying to take full advantage of our limited time in the park and we weren't hanging around the lodge all day for food to be available. I just wish this was made clear to us when we booked our stay.

Students Old Faithful snow Lodge in January. Yellowstone in general that time of year is amazing. The rooms in the Old Faithful snow Lodge were nice enough. The food in the restaurant was Bland and locked seasoning. Box lunches for the day were adequate. Would have given it 5 stars of the food we're better. But considering the other options I do recommend staying at the Old Faithful snow Lodge.

Great place! Very expensive. We didn't stay inside the snow lodge. We opted to stay in the cabins and it was only $100.00 a night. You had a cute and comfortable place to stay /sleep. You had to walk to the shower & potty but it was never busy and was only a cabin or two down. Bring a flashlight. Saved tons of $$$ doing it that way.

Great lodge! The staff is very helpful and efficient. The rooms are large, but there are no TVs or WFi in the rooms. There is a coffee pot. The rooms are large and very convenient to Old Faithful and a 5 mile trail.

Just ended our 2 night stay here and it was a bit of a letdown. We stayed in the main hotel (not a cabin) and for $300/night we expected a bit more in terms of amenities and service. I get it, you are in Yellowstone and they want you to be close to nature and family. But considering this is marketed as a "premium" lodge one has certain expectations. Below is a breakdown of the pros and cons.
Pros:
- Location
- Clean facility
Cons:
- Rooms get hot and stuffy at night. Your only option is to open the window which makes it cold when its 30 outside.
- Extra charge for WIFI
- No TV (yes I know this is Yellowstone, but if it's raining and you have a 3 and 5 year old this can be a lifesaver)
- Cold staff, not even a smile
I might stay here again if the rates were reasonable to the services offered. However it seems like the management company, Xanterra, is milking their contract with Yellowstone.
