Fun! Fresh! Friendly! Everyone's out Saturday for the Market. Do us all a favor and rude your bike, or learn the bus schedule, including the free trolley that runs from King Street Metro. That said, there is municipal parking directly under the Market Square plaza.
Highlights--the Amish dairy (I think a regular) and a children's choir (one-shot) deal. Produce is large, fresh & pricey. This would be a fun start to the morning and the weekend.
Hey - dress for the sun. There are shade trees, but it's an open air plaza.

It's large but many of the vendors do not bring produce in from their own farms. The majority of the fruits/veggies produce are shipped from elsewhere. Some vendors even shamelessly claim that their avocados are from Virginia but after asking them specifically about the source, they admitted their produce was from elsewhere. The EBT matching program here is a nice thing to offer here and I laud the city of Alexandria for funding the program.

Year round market, with crafts around holiday times. Early and closes early too. Wonder if they sold slaves there since it says since 17xx...

I love the farmers market. Everyone is always friendly and the food is nice and fresh. It's better than the grocery store with competitive pricing.

Great place to compost food scraps for free, and tour through the Old Town atmosphere. Also this market has fabulous treats like cookies (for kids), and hearty spinache or meat pies (for adults). It's worth a visit.
