Oppenheimer Group

This review if for the Oppy Transport David Oppenheimer Transport component of the Oppenheimer Group in Newark, Delaware. I highly recommend NO CARRIER BOOK ANY LOADS WITH THIS BROKER. We will never haul for them again. Other carriers take notice and beware. We booked a produce load for them from New Jersey to Illinois. Along the way in Pennsylvania, the truck had an air compressor failure and this would require a three day delay Saturday to Tuesday from appointment for delivery. The product was safe in our normally operating and cooling refrigerated trailer. This broker demanded that the load and trailer be released to one of their other carriers for power only delivery to the destination. If we didn't agree to it they THREATENED TO FILE A CLAIM ON OUR CARGO INSURANCE FOR A REJECTED LOAD ON ONLY A THREE DAY DELAY. I agreed to their demand to avoid the claim. They used our trailer, our fuel, then charged us $500 for returning the trailer. This treatment is something we have never been through in the seven years we have hauled produce, is outrageous, and not customary within the industry. We regularly haul produce from the southwest to the northeast, with in-transit times that can be up to a week. Had we not covered their load, it is likely that the product would have been delivered later than our Tuesday capable delivery. Keep this story in mind and think twice before booking any of their freight.
