Peking City Chinese Restaurant

I like their "Hot and Sour Soup (酸辣湯) ". I think this restaurant is one of the best for the soup. 　The menu for lunch is just standard for American people and some dish are good. Not so oily or salty, that is good sign.

The selection is great. Servings are very generous and absolutely delicious. Staff are quick and courteous. You absolutely cannot miss their lunch specials! Main dish, egg roll, choice of white rice or fried rice, and, if you eat in, soup - all for under $10.00! And the shrimp toast is to die for! This is my go to place for delicious Chinese food.

Fast and hot delivery. But the general tsos chicken we ordered "extra spicy" tasted and looked like watered down sweet and sour. No flavor, no spice. Never again. We deviated from our normal spots looking for good general tsos but this is the worst we have found.

We recently moved to the Great Neck Road area from another part of Hampton Roads and were looking forward to finding a great Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately, Peking City missed the mark by a lot. The egg rolls seemed to be just vegetables. When I asked if they were supposed to have meat, I was told it was chicken, but it was almost non-existent. We ordered three other items off the menu that were supposed to be spicy (a pepper next to the name.) Nothing had any heat/spice to it. When I asked (when checking out) why the items with peppers weren't spicy, I was told that spicy is to "too much" for local residents. Then why put a pepper next to the name? The vegetarian fried rice (comes with the entrée) also was bland. Service was hit or miss...one waitress was working at peak dinner time, and her knowledge of the restaurant and food was mediocre. Looks like we are still on the hunt for a good Chinese restaurant in north VA Beach! P.S. Also tried Foon's delivery and it was also awful...not like the old days of Foon's near the CBBT.
