My son introduced me to this range and I have to say: the staff are knowledgeable and personable. They treated me with respect and I felt comfortable there. Sorry some other customers felt differently but I'll be recommending this place to my friends. I have to admit: the ammo I brought with me were steel jackets and they wanted me to use brass. So I bought a box from there. The cost was kinda high but sometimes you gotta pay for convenience. So I purchased and had a good time.

While I am comfortable around firearms, I only recently decided to make my first purchase and take a concealed carry course. I admit I was a bit on the hesitant side, as I have not been around gun stores that often. Mike was amazing (every other employee including Larry has been just as fantastic) and quickly brought his explanations and recommendations to my level without prompting from me. We looked at several firearms (be sure you have your FOID card ready, as you need it to look at anything. As it should be!) and I quickly found what suited my needs and experience level. It's now 4 months later, and I can say Mike helped me make the right choice. I took the concealed carry course with John as the instructor and he was fantastic! He was extremely personable and had the right attitude with mixed humor where needed during the 16 hours. The class was a comfortable environment to better learn and understand something as serious as being allowed to carry a firearm in public. If you want to take the concealed course for Illinois, take it here. It's worth the trip for the service and environment. The instructor John will even help you fill out the application for the permit so you know it's done right. There is a small fee involved, but it's so worth it. There's plenty of silly pitfalls when applying through the state police without experience. The range might be a bit small by some standards, but don't let this put you off. It's a great range to shoot at with a solid 10 yards in each of the 5 lanes with a yard or two beyond. Modern, well lit, and with adequate ventilation. I plan to purchase a firearm that is more suited for concealed carry in the near future, and it's definitely going to come from Pelcher's. As a bonus, you get a $50 discount on a firearm for taking the course through them. If you have not been in a gun store before and have no knowledge of firearms, they'll take care of you. Don't worry about feeling dumb or embarrassed that you don't know much about firearms. Just chat with them and anybody here will take good care of you. On what I feel is a positive note, they don't stand for people that want to start trouble. Don't worry about that crowd coming in there if you're on the fence about coming to a gun store for the first time. They are swiftly dealt with and made to leave. Customer and employee safety is a very obvious priority here.

Well ventilated and lit. Nice place to shoot. Good selection of firearms and accessories for sale as well. Very helpful staff.

Smaller shop but good selection. Friendly and knowledgeable group of guys that work there. It's the only shop I have been going to for awhile now, I enjoy the conversation and the range is priced right. I've always felt like they take care of me when I visit Pelchers.

This place is great.. very friendly and helpful staff. It is a bit smaller but just an all around great experience
