I have had an account with Peoples Credit for over 14 years. When they were taken over by First Service Credit Union I must confess that I found it difficult to get through to them but after contacting them on twitter Valerie was great I was put in touch with Damian Hernandez whose personal attention I can not fault and has together with the social media team restored my faith in this new incarnation of my credit union. Many thanks to Damian and the Valerie on Twitter.
My issue wasn't anything large like a loan, I just needed to cash a check for my credit union since I still use it from my home state, but they seemed fine to me. I watched out for any signs of frustration or bad attitudes, and I even came in obnoxiously unprepared with the information I should have had to properly process my requirements, but the person who worked with me was perfectly professional and helpful, nonetheless.
Kim was very friendly facilitating my withdrawal. I’m sure I will be back next time I’m in Houston.
If I could give negative stars I would. I have had nothing but headaches dealing with this particular credit union from the beginning 2017 all the way up to the present 2021. Life happens but they have zero understanding of that. I WILL NEVER DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN AND DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO FAMILY, FRIENDS, EVEN ENEMIES!
I use People’s Trust for a deposit into a Co-Op Branch account. It’s convenient to get to from the tunnel system and from my University, UH Downtown. The tellers are friendly. My only gripe which occured also during a previous visit was the money was put in the wrong account checking vs savings, They share the same account number. However it's not that hard for me to transfer it through my credit union's app.
Loan paperwork entered incorrectly into their computer leading to multiple issues. 1. they sent a late payment notice because they entered the amount due each month incorrectly and tried to bully me into paying even after I produced the loan document that confirmed I had paid the correct amount. 2. They have entered incorrect flood insurance information into their system and are now trying to get me to buy flood insurance when I'm not in a flood zone...saying that they can buy it and charge me. 3. Their "shared" answering service continuously passes messages to their office for a return call and no one ever calls. 4. Had to call them again today to try and get it resolved and no one can fix it. Loan department says they don't deal with this. Call center people can't deal with this. The people who send the notice that we have to provide flood insurance can't help with this. 5. On another note they like changing the minimum balance required for checking accounts accounts to increase their fee revenue. They claim to notify but they seldom do and if they do it is always in the fine print....check it often. After 4 more calls today and 6 transfers they finally admit that the insurance is not actually required. We will see as this is the second time we have had to deal with this and it goes about the same every time...they take three days to admit that it was their fault and actually fix the problem. It feels as though they think that if they bully you enough or bounce you around long enough, you will give in. Actually had Gina Customer Service Center tell me today that I should just do what the letter said. Unfortunately I'm mean and probably a bigger bully. The insurance center blames the bank for uploading an update to the loan records that caused it to pick up the original error they created when they first input the data into their system. I know this is a long review...but people need to know that this can happen with People's Trust. Do you want these people in charge of your money or your personal property. This isn't like getting your order wrong at a fast food joint.
Worst bank/institution that I have ever worked with. They are still in the 19th Century, it seems. When I first got my Christmas loan I actually had to go to a different bank entirely to get the money, since they didn't even really have a branch. Want to do some sort of "auto-payment"? Good Luck, they are HORRIBLE with that and require paperwork faxed and even still require a copy of a check from your checkbook checkbooks become almost obsolete, but necessary for a "new" bank with no locations. They also charge late fees without notifying you, nor do the late charges so up on their statements when sent to you. So, don't be even a day late since the auto payment that I was told was setup never was as you will be charged 'daily' with late fees, I was never more than 12 days late, and that was only due to not being able to log into their horrible web site. I can not stress enough to PLEASE STAY AWAY from this "company". I don't even think they are a real bank, although I have heard that they have FINALLY a year after I started dealing with them are opening an actual physical branch. I know this is a long and horrible review, but as a husband and father of 3 I feel that I need to warn anyone that I can! Stay Away!!! Find just about anyone else if you need a bank account or a loan.
Sorry to say but this bank sucks!!!! Just like everyone says, I can never get a hold of anybody on the phone. I was sent a late notice for my car loan even though the lady in the office told me she set up an automatic draft from my savings from my car loan. It took them two weeks to "decide" to just take the money from my savings since I had enough in there which was because it was for my car loan! When I asked the guy why didn't it work he said the lady who did it the first time did it incorrectly and it just got deleted so instead of notifying me by phone they let my car note be late! That is ridiculous! I asked the guy to set up the automatic draft for me since the 1st employee didn't do her job correct. My first payment already late that is ridiculous..any other bank would of taken the money from the account that day to pay on whatever was due. I have excellent credit score and I don't want an idiot who can't do their job correctly ruin it. I plan to refinance my car loan after a few months so i don't have to put up with this bank anymore. Doesn't even deserve a star but I had to put on to even publish this post.
No one ever answers the phone. Sometimes after going through the options and menus and waiting on hold someone will answer. But shortly after you are told to hold and then you are waiting on hold forever then you get transferred to someone new who you have to explain yourself all over again. They have the worst phone etiquette of any business I have dealt with. Lots of fees. I get returned mail fees even though I updated my correct address multiple times but they cant get it right and I also requested to go paperless. I would not recommend this credit union to anyone. As soon as I pay my auto loan off I am done with the place.
Incomprehensive in their business transactions and when reported to an Administrator both will denied their actions and failure to take the responsibility. After opening an account, approximately one month from the opening date, no representative contacted me in receiving personal checks from People's Trust. They failed to acknowledge that their is a fee for personal checks and it will be taken from my checking account. Every problem I'm facing with regarding this account,.I contacted the Credit Union but the voice mail proceeds as programmed during business hours. Also, most Members are retired and received pension checks between 1st and 3rd per month and those agencies electronically forward those checks on Friday evenings but if the 1st of the month falls on Saturday's your check is not stating pending as customary in banks, it is not visible. People's Trust never disclose the information on electronic checks will not be accepted if after business days and hours. Members will receive each check on the 3rd or 4th but emails come into your system electronically. Several complaints were addressed but to no avail on the withholding of electronic checks. If People's Trust is not withholding those checks, than were are the checks being placed after an agency have electronically forwarded to People's Trust.
