A classic BBQ spot with all the fixin’s. The brisket and pork ribs are my favorite but if you want to do it right grab the Pit Boss plate and get a well rounded taster off the meats they offer. Their Mac n cheese is a solid side choice, I usually get that and the potato salad but on a hot day the coleslaw is one that I opt for. Plenty of indoor seating with a covered patio for outdoor preferences. They also slay a margarita.
Food was ok but had its few things that weren’t to my personal liking. The brisket was great but the BBQ sauce was to tangy to be able to enjoy it. The cornbread was very flavorless. The Mac and cheese was not good. Smoked chicken tacos were good but a little salty. Fish taco was great. The BBQ beans were delicious! So it had it’s ups and downs.
Best BBQ I have had outside of Texas. Got Pit Boss to share. Brisket was tender and moist, ribs were great, pulled pork was good and the sausage was very good. The best part we’re the sides; Mac and Cheese was well made, bbq beans was delicious and the black eyed peas salad was excellent!Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: Yes
Didn’t plan to come here but ended up here when it was raining too much for the outdoor seating next door. Apparently on Monday they only do tacos rather than the normal bbq, but we really enjoyed our dinner! Would highly recommend the brisket nachos and the puffy taco. We also got an al pastor taco, which I personally would NOT recommend, as I really didn’t like the sauce on it. Prices were great and we ended up spending way less than we’d planned for dinner!
Not bad, but nothing special either. My brisket came to the table luke warm and while most of it was nice and tender, the flavor was bland and parts of it were pretty dry. Really good Green Chili Mac n Cheese, the corn bread was solid though I had to request honey, and the collard greens were nice enough, with a bit of extra spice. The pulled pork was a little better.
We came for the all you can eat fish on Friday. I had the biggest baked potato I have ever seen in my life. Our waitress Amy was a delight. She was fun to cut up with. She never let us run out of our beverages and kept the fish coming. I will ask for her every time I am here.
Dine in but there are many tables outside with heat lamps. Good service, food came out fast. I ordered brisket sandwich with coleslaw. Coleslaw was different, more vinaigrette, it does go well with the sandwich. The brisket was fatty and blacken with good flavor. Their sauce was ok. I tired the corn bread, little plain for me and dry. My friends did like their orders and they like Mac and cheese.
I am giving 2 stars for the great customer service, but the food was not good. Salty, flavorless, the bbq sauces were flat and not good, the sides were not good, salty potato salad, salty bbq beans, dry cornbread. We did not even take leftovers home. Very disappointed in general, but more disappointed being from the south and having good BBQ. The meat was actually juicy, that was a plus. The waitstaff was very eccentric and helpful. One did try to warn us regarding the salt content in the potato salad.
Best BBQ joint this side of the Mississippi. Four of us shared the Pit Boss platter and left full. Brisket was tender and juicy, the ribs were huge, the pulled pork was tender, and the sausage was very tasty. We got corn bread, collard greens and bbq beans as sides and all were delicious! We'll be back.Food: 5/5
September 26, 2021 Update: Finally got the misses to Podnah's for some Smoked Brisket. We rented a car for the weekend to attend our daughter's wedding in Corvallis, and missed the drop off deadline at the car rental agency, so we had an extra 24 hours with a car and decided to put it to good use, and get some BBQ. We both ordered the sliced smoked beef brisket with roasted green chili mac and cheese plus margaritas. My wife wasn't able to finish her meal, and while I did, along with the margarita, I should of stopped and have leftovers for the next day. I was so stuffed I could barely make it home. The sliced brisket is the way to go, the portion was generous, with thick juicy meat, bun toasted to perfection and the roasted green chili mac and cheese to die for. My wife sampled all three sauces, but eventually went with the traditional brown BBQ sauce. The vinegar and mustard sauces were a little too hot/spicy for her liking. The margaritas were refreshing and a good compliment to the meal. Beer would have been too much given the quantity of the portions. That, or I just can't eat as much as I used to. Anyway you slice it, it was well worth the trip, especially not having to take two buses and walking a half mile to get there. August 17, 2021 Update: Bragged to my wife about Podnah's BBQ, so when she returned from an out-of-town trip we went for a follow-up visit on a Tuesday, only find out they have a limited menu featuring street tacos with smoked brisket and other meats. Being troopers we ordered tacos, which were good. They feature a Texas crunchy taco photo that's deep fried and folded to hold the brisket and fixin's. As an added treat, they have available margaritas to compliment their Mexican themed meal offerings. While we were both disappointed that what we had came for wasn't available, we were happy we had what we did. August 7, 2021 Based on previous reviews of mine, Google Map recommend Podnah's BBQ. Had the day off and decided to give Podnah's BBQ a try. Based on other reviews, I got there about 2 PM with no wait and plenty of seating both inside and out. They do offer inside seating for only vaccinated guests, which I am, but they didn't ask for proof. I ordered the sliced beef brisket sandwich with roasted green chili mac and cheese. The mac and cheese is made with orecchietta pasta topped breadcrumbs, was thick and creamy with a little kick from the roasted chili's. It would be great by itself, with cornbread on the side. The sliced beef brisket is juicy and tender, smoked to perfection, with a nice layer of red myoglobin fairly deep into the meat. It's served on a lightly toasted bun with three choices of red, mustard or vinegar sauces served on the side, so you can add as much or little as you like. If you want some seriously delicious Texas style smoked brisket, Podnah's BBQ is definitely the place to check out. The sliced beef brisket sandwich is a healthy portion of melts in mouth heaven. On my next visit, I'll try their pulled pork and report back on my thoughts. Now, I'm ready for my food coma nap.
