I've taken my truck up there several times now. They normally pull my truck in and start looking at it before I can even get out the door. When other shops tell me they can have it fixed in 3-4 days, Porterfield normally gets it done for me that same day if I drop if off in the morning. Every time I have compared their prices against other shops and they're always cheapest. This time most recently, University Tire next door quoted me $720 to replace a hub and do an alignment. Porterfield wanted $460. One time I took it up there, they fixed the traction bar which I didn't know was bad, and didn't even charge me for it, even though it took them some time to tighten up and fix. They give you all of the options for repairs. But what I love MOST about them is that when you drop your vehicle off, you talk to the service manager and go over everything with him before they start. You don't just talk to the guy at the front desk. They service managers keep you updated on the status of your vehicle and provide excellent customer service. Anyone that posts a bad review plain doesn't know what they're talking about. Hands down the best repair shop in Athens.

It's been a long time since I've experienced such poor customer service. I requested a quote from the Watkinsville location, yet somehow Troy at the Athens location contacted me via email. When I spoke with him on the phone, he was quite rude, but the price was good so I listened. He told me to get there within the next 30 minutes to get the deal he was offering. So in a mad rush, I cancel my plans for the morning and get my fiance to cancel her plans to meet me at the location so I can drop of my truck. When I get there, the place is a zoo. There's nowhere to park, and the line at the desk is 4 deep. I overheard the salesman at the desk telling the couple he was speaking to that there was no way he could service their vehicle today, that he currently had 29 vehicles waiting and they closed in 2 hours. Good prices are nice, but there is something to be said for honesty and being respectful of your customers' time. There's no way 29 cars got there in the 15 minutes from when I ended my conversation with Troy until I got there. If you are slammed, tell me your slammed and I'll make an appointment. I'm sure this was a tactic to get me to come in today to "get the deal" and make an appointment later. Why not just tell me that over the phone? I would have gladly paid by credit card over the phone and made an appointment. But don't waste my time by lying to me about being able to get my truck taken care of in 2 hours when there are nearly 30 vehicles in queue. I'll give the Watkinsville location another call Monday, because I've heard great things about their customer service. But I will NEVER consider going back to the Athens location. If there was an option to give negative starts for customer service, I would give it.

Staff is very knowledgeable and polite. Excellent service. The only place to buy tires.

They are wonderful. I took my car in because a bunch of the "somethings wrong" lights came and ww couldn't figure out why. Turns out all it was, was it needed an air filter and the gas cap cleaned off to fix the exhaust light. Didn't charge us an arm and a leg and the car is fixed. We take all of our vehicles there for everything. I recommend them %100.

Quality work at a reasonable price. They get very busy, so make sure you've got some time to kill.
