We ordered sesame beef, fried rice, and salt/pepper squid. Each plate is enough for two people, so it was good. I would come back. They have a parking space behind the restaurant, and there should be ample space on the side of the road if the lot is packed.Food: 5/5
The fried crab has an interesting flavor, lots of work to open the shell, but it was fun. I think it was around $55, not too expensive for a big crab. I really liked the veggies, delicious! Haven’t had veggies tasted that good for a long time. Pepper squid was ok, a little dry and hard to chew.
The restroom and the seat covers are very dirty. Looks like they don't clean them. Food is decent. OMG, there was a piece of plastic in my veggies dish. I talked to the owner and she said it's the plastic case that they use to stored the veggies. And she walked away without saying sorryFood: 3/5
Hard to find authentic cantonese food and such huge portions. They also provided sweet mandarin oranges and fortune cookies at the end of the meal! We really enjoyed the steamed black cod, the salt and pepper squid and garlic gai lan.Food: 5/5
I like trying a lot of different Chinese restaurants to see how their dishes compare as well as any specials they have. This particular place has some subpar menu items, but most of it is good or great. I would highly recommend the fried chicken, some of the tastiest I've ever had, and the chow mein is good too. Their egg flower soup is a strange color and not the best, and they also give you too much. I had no issues with service, I thought that the employees were actually really quite nice to me. We ordered a lot of food, and the waitress helped me carry my food out to the car since I would have struggled a lot as I was picking up the food alone. It was also cooked and prepared very quickly.
The food is tasty. One of my favorite Chinese restaurant go to for family style. Food is come out with in 15min after you order. Definitely recommended!!!
Some places are more difficult to review than others. This is one. The restaurant is low decoration, and within 10 feet of Powell Blvd in a cement building. Powell is a noisy street. Powell's Seafood Restaurant had no lunch specials. Our meals came out separately. Food was not cold. I had the General Tso's Chicken. I don't think I have ever made this criticism before, but the portion size was too large. Also, the price was $20.95 which was expensive for lunch. My friend's portion size was also too large. My friend is a better eater than I am and generally there are no left-over's for him. Not at Powell's Seafood Restaurant. My food was acceptable, but his was not. The eggplant was slimy and lacking in taste. The server never checked back with us. Our consensus was that we would not return to check out other menu items. Vegetarian options: Based on what my friend had eggplant I could not, in good conscience, recommend their vegetarian fare. The eggplant dish was flavorless and the eggplant itself was slimy. Parking: Once their five or six parking spots fill up they direct you to park on the other side of Powell. Or you can park on the street.
Bustling with people. Attentive service. Delicious food. Salt and Pepper combo appetizer, Chinese Broccoli Beef, Cashew Nut Chicken and steamed clams. Will visit again
I've come twice now to give this place a fair shot, the first time fairing better than the second by far. A friend recommended it, but I can't say I'm a fan. The first time we tried beef chow fun and salt and pepper squid, the beef was tender and flavorful, and the squid a little dry a light dipping sauce would have done it well. Both dishes seemed to be half onions, and therefore didn't make for a good combination. The second visit we tried the sesame beef and general tsos, and both were almost too salty to eat. We looked around to flag someone down but were unsuccessful and honestly too hungry to complain. Waters went unfilled and we ended up leaving with a bad taste in our mouths, literally.
Old school Traditional dishes prepared with proper technique And served promptly with care If you want the 'real thing' come hereFood: 5/5
