My experience with Dr. Villanueva was absolutely horrible. It was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. She was abrasive, condescending, sarcastic, and impatient. I felt unsafe with her because she made me feel as though my concerns meant nothing to her. She lacks self control and empathy. When I asked her questions, her answers were abrupt and never addressed what I needed to be addressed. I had one appointment with her and it will be my last. I have never felt the need to immediately switch providers until I came across her. I do not recommend her to anyone. She is highly insensitive and has no regard for patients. I’m truly disappointed in what happened. Avoid her at all costs.
Dr. Villanueva is the best OBGYN. I have followed her since I was in my 20s and 20 years later I'm still her patient. She gives her patients the time necessary to discuss your health concerns and medical issues. If you want an intelligent doctor with poise and understanding, Dr. Rachel Villanueva is the one.
My experience here was honestly a nightmare. I showed up to ask for a replacement nexplanon implant as the one I had was a month and a half out from expiring. The staff was nice and competent, especially the nurse who took my vitals and tests. But the first thing Dr. Villanueva said to me when I was shown to her office was that since I was 10 minutes late the place was a bit hard to find, things would be rushed, and they were. I understand the inconvenience, but it was the tone in her voice and general unpleasant demeanor that made me uneasy about the whole thing. She had a very impatient, critical and defensive attitude and gave me very confusing answers when I politely expressed my concerns. When I asked to have tests run, her response was to ask me why I wanted them, again, very impatiently. What are gynecologists for, anyway? STD and pregnancy tests should be part of any annual checkup. She acted as though my asking for those things was weird. She was very reluctant to explain any of her positions on contraception methods scientifically with specifics, as though assuming I wouldn’t understand or something. She kept countering all of my questions and concerns very brusquely, as well as my desire to get another implant. She interrupted me a lot as I was asking questions and honestly I felt like nothing more than a bother to her. Then it got worse - I opted for the nexplanon implant, and it seems that she ordered it rather late because it didn’t arrive for nearly a month after I signed the forms. THEN, THEY LOST IT! I called day after day to ask what was going on, my implant expired, please help, where is the thing, etc. The staff was uninformed about the situation whenever I called, so they mustn’t be communicating much at all. I was hung up on several times while being transferred, and on at least three occasions I was promised a call back and never received one. As a patient, I NEVER felt like a priority to anyone there. Not once. They finally told me that the implant had been reported as delivered from the pharmacy after I called them 4 days in a row to ask where it was. They were not keeping track of it at all. The thing was simply lost, though they never admitted to losing it or even offered to order another one ASAP; they would simply say “oh, we don’t know where it is” “can’t find it” etc like that would solve my problem. Unacceptable!! My current implant expired over a week ago and I’m having a lot of complications from that, and now I’m having to switch doctors and start the whole process all over again, which will now take another 2 weeks at least before I can have my implant switched out. This whole ordeal has caused me unbelievable stress and literally sent my hormones into a frenzy. I’m sorry but I absolutely cannot recommend this place. Patient care, bedside manner, responsiveness, helpfulness and general responsibility all get a 1-star rating from me.
My appointment was for 3:00, I wasn’t seen until 4:45. She said that someone from the office had called to ask if I could reschedule, I never received a phone call. Then my whole visit was rushed, my whole visit was probably 10 minutes and all my concerns were undermined. I got a full work up on a Monday and told me my results would be ready by Thursday. I’ve been calling the office everyday to speak to the doctor about my results. They say she will call me by the end of the day, it’s almost 2 weeks later and still nothing. A waste of my time and money. I’ve never written a review for a doctor but the way I was treated and handled is sad.
She took her time to listen, laugh, explain and help me plan. Her office followed up as well. I will say, the booking process was not simple with her staff. But, the doctor was great.
Dr. Villanueva is both professional and relatable. She's sharp and also has an easy, casual vibe that I really appreciate. All of the office staff are kind and personable and in the four years I've been a patient, I've never had a atrociously long wait or bad administrative experience.
Dr. V is one of the most knowledgeable and transparent Gynecologists in medicine. She is caring and her staff treated me very well. Booking an appointment was easy. I’d recommend her to my closest friends.
I came to Rachel Villanueva in 2018. I came to her with a problem and I was treated like I was crazy. I believe it had something to do with the color of skin. Honestly who knows but I have literally never been treated so disrespectfully in my life! I have not returned since and you make your own choice. But if you have a $20 co pay I would use it on DR who has better beside matter.
Ive had a HORRIBLE experience at Dr. Rachel Villanueva, MD office. I went in for my annual. I waited 45 minutes. Opted to get a few blood tests. THREE people tried to take my blood sample, NONE could get a vein min you I ate and drank a ton of water before my appointment. One of the woman who tried to take my blood stuck into my arm and literally started to swivel it in my arm as a haphazard way to find my vein. Once all the assistants failed to access a vein please note that I am an physically active 27 year old biracial woman and I have no medical issues ,the office then choose to fill out a script for the blood tests to Quest lab the specific form I had received was for was quest lab and I was advised to make to make an appointment online . I go to Quest lab and this lab DOES NOT take my insurance. I called the office and asked them how did this happen. The office then tells me that Quest lab should have notified me of the insurance issue. REALLY!!!! This office sent me the INCORRECT script, then proceeds to put the blame elsewhere. The office then informed me that I would have to call on Monday to recieve the correct paperwork. Incompetency level on a scale of 1-10 is a 10, Customer service on a level of 1-10 is a 0. DO NOT BOOK AN APPOINTMENT HERE.
I’ve been seeing this doctor for the past few years. I find her to be very thorough. She is loving and caring and pays very close attention. She cares about the overall you. I love her.
