I recently completed a tour here and I have to say that the lady from the office, Samantha, was super kind and really professional. That alone should make anyone want to live at Regency Park. I loved the amenities like the dog park and the pool. The apartments present well and look great to live in. It’s especially close to everything that I need as well. If you are looking for a positive place to live, definitely take a look at this property.
As a current resident living here for almost 3 years now, I wouldn't recommend it unless you have no other option. 1st The leasing office is Never open, they'll send emails with the times and days the office will be open but it never is. As of recent recent being 2-3 months, we do not have a property manager, the corporate office located at 8325 W Wayzata Blvd, Minneapolis, MN does not answer the phone. If you leave a message it won't get returned. There is a dryer that has been out of service for 6+ months. We didn't receive mail for 2 almost 3 weeks because Regency Park did not completely install our mailboxes within the time frame Regency Park said they would. Also, I just got wind that if you're late 4 times in a 12-month period you CAN NOT Renew your lease. The sad thing about this is a lot of residents signed up for HelpMN & as of May, those residents received a notice stating they can't renew their lease because of late payments. Sadly with Covid becoming the "norm" now, you would think the rental property would be more lenient with those who applied for the program & are making payments, which from what tenants showed & told me they are being penalized for being late for the months the HelpMN Program was going to cover. The pet policy is not enforced, as if today 6/15/22 there is a grey American Bulldog, a Pitbull Terrie Brindle, & a black Husky Pit mix that lives at the property. Complaints have been made but again, No One is even in the office so the owners keep on living. Just an insight for those of you who may be looking.
When we first moved in management was bad. Rent was lost and late charges applied and the office manager didn’t care. Mary walked into a mess. She did her best to clean up a lot of the problems. We have lived here for a year and a half and we really do love it here. We were not real happy with the 75.00 rent hike after our first year and hope we don’t receive another huge hike, we would like to stay here. We have had a lot of things happen here and the maintenance lady is on it. She is amazing and gets things fixed in more than a reasonable time frame. Winters are tough and we have never had an issues with the walks not being cleaned. Again our maintenance lady is amazing at keeping the walks clean and salted. Our new part time gentleman, not so much. He waters the flowers and that is about it. Overall we love it here and love our little community here and hope to call it home for awhile.
Has been a solid place to live at for the past 1.5 years. Sometimes the office is closed on random days which can be inconvenient, but overall it’s been a solid experience. Washers and Dryers are up to date and nice, fenced in dog area has been a great amenity, and Rosemary the maintenance person has been very helpful!
When I moved in the carpet was completely dirty walls weren't even painted. Also, the keys that was given to us didn't even work on the door, we had to wait three more hours in order to get the right keys for our new apartment. First weekend the washer and dryer's don't work it just keeps taking money and doesn't run. I have spoken to a current tenant who's been living here for three years and, they told me the dryers have not been working for over two years. So far this is not been a great experience moving into this apartment complex.
***Updated 7/7/2020*** Due to the pandemic, Regency Park And Bigos Management lowered the rate of rent increase. This was much appreciated. I hope that their loyalty to existing tenants continues over theses next few, and very uncertain, months. Original Post: I have lived at Regency Park for nearly 10 years. I have been very happy here. The property and community is well taken care of and the neighbors are nice and it’s a fairly quiet community. The property management company, Bigos Management, seems to care more about making money than holding onto long-term or loyal and decent residents. My rent has increased approximately 4-6% every year since I’ve lived here, with absolutely ZERO upgrades being done to my unit itself. They only amenities offered are an outdoor pool, a fenced in dog area, and onsite laundry for which you still need to use quarters. They claim the rent hike is “market value” each year, but it’s also one of, if not THE, highest priced rentals in north Saint Paul. I wish they cared more about hanging onto respectful and loyal residents rather than just hoping someone with more money wants to live here. I’ll be sad to leave but I can no longer justify a yearly rental hike up to 6%. It’s no longer affordable to someone who makes over $20/hour, but also has student loans among other bills. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because I REALLY REALLY love the pool.
The good: Most of the staff is super friendly, the hallways have multiple air fresheners so they smell great, good location if you have pets or kids the pool is nice, albeit a little small for some. Never had an issue with rent like other reviewers said. The apartments themselves feel like a good deal for what you’re paying, and it seems like they’ve been upkept well. My favorite staff member is Rosemary, one of the maintenance workers. She’s seriously the best! My first encounter with her was when my dishwasher’s screws came loose so it was coming out of its frame. She was here to fix it within two days I believe, and at the time I was babysitting my nephew. She kept him entertained while I took a shower before a big date, haha! Anytime I’ve had her services about 3 times in the 7 months I’ve lived here she always leaves these cute little notes. Seriously, if you can request her, do it! The other time I needed her was my kitchen overhead light reaching the end of its life. She swapped it while I was at work, and actually did some other touch ups and left me a note. You can tell the staff cares! Speaking of maintenance, the few times they’ve had to do building-wide things like water shut off, they’ve been pretty great about sending out email notices and hanging up fliers, which is nice to see. The bad: one of my major complaints is parking. There’s an optional garage you HAVE to keep on your lease for the entire term and I think its something ridiculous like $50/month?. Although they give us a permit for the lot, it feels like it’s always full; I rarely get a spot that actually close to my building. Although there are spots available, ‘guest’ parking is the farthest away from my building which can suck in winter. Luckily there’s usually street parking as well. The ugly: two quick things. Really my only gripe with this place is the office hours. If I went back into my email and pulled up everytime they made an adjustment to their hours I swear it’s close to 50 in the 7 months I’ve lived here. They’re usually pretty good about sending it out at least a day before if not more only a few times has it been the day of. I’m sure that’s not their fault and it’s just due to only having a few staff members total. Not a big deal. It just affects me specifically because I work weird retail hours so sometimes it can be hard to get my packages, and it always feels like they close on my day off! The other ugly experience I had here was having a friend stay the night. At the time the lease terms were pretty unclear, with the phrasing being something along the lines of ‘... guests must have a parking pass AND/OR park in guest parking...’. My interpretation of this was they can park anywhere with a pass, or in guest parking without. Turns out you needed both. $200 later we bailed his car out from the towing company. Bleh. Now they’ve updated the lease terms and sent out a notice. Mary, the office manager, might have mentioned it when I toured with her, but I don’t recall it specifically. Anyways, lesson learned, and I should’ve asked for clarification beforehand. Other misc. things: there is an apartment directly across the street that doesn’t seem as high quality. In the summer months I recall some sketchy folks playing loud music and hanging by their car. North Saint Paul is a very safe area, but this was tiny bit off-putting. Hadn’t seen any other instances of crime or feeling unsafe apart from this instance. If you had a lot of package or food deliveries, get ready to chase people down. I’ve never actually had an issue with packages, but DoorDash or other foods I usually have to wait outside on the phone with the driver to try to find a meeting spot. It’s weird. The laundry room isn’t my favorite. Each load costs $1.25 in quarters and my drying usually took two cycles so it ends up being pretty expensive. After a few months I started going to an actually laundromat. Maybe some people like the convenience of it all. Mary mentioned hopefully get card-operates ones in the future, hopefully they lower the cost
The building I was in was quite most of the time. I had no real issues. Normal apartment living. One down fall, I lived on the third floor and the laundry room was on first. I lived next to the stairs. I heard people's slamming the front door and going up the stairs. Also, in the summer, cigarette smoke would find it's way into my apartment. I left because rent was getting to high for the amenities they had.
Not the best place...but not the worst either I've never had problems with bugs, rodents or any nasty insect while I stayed here so that was really appreciated. The parking sucks, neighbor noise is an all time high it's crazy some days like I've had to call the cops before. police are always patrolling especially in the summer time and the apts across the street make the area extremely busy with traffic. I never do laundry in the basement and the rent continues to increase with no modifications with apts. it's sad honestly like when I moved in it was $815 now my rent is $879 online right now for a two bedroom at regency its $979 for what I honestly don't know why the huge jump in price the apts need updating. This was my first and last apt : nice experience I've lived here two years and I'm excited to leave.
Been here for only 2.5 months and I want to move out already. I live above elephants who stomp. I get they're heavy walkers but I don't think courtesy exists in their vocabulary. The mom is rude and inconsiderate. The first week, my sister and I both went up to politely let her know that people live below her and can hear all the movements. She yelled back at us with an attitude which has been a big factor into why we don't like this apartment. I don't understand those who say "This is apartment living. You have to deal with it." It's to the point where we know exactly where she's walking, what she's doing and when she's home. Whenever they walk, they vibrate our apartment, ESPECIALLY when her son runs. All we've ever asked for is courtesy and it's not something we get. Also, management isn't the greatest because they won't/don't do anything about it. The new manager is nice and understanding enough but all they ever tell me is that they can't do anything about it. What's management for then?! You tell me that you can't tell her how to walk, yet at the same time she's disturbing our peace and quiet and it doesn't matter? Quiet hours specifically say 10pm to 7am. She wakes up at 6 sometimes 5:30AM and stomps around the whole hour getting ready for work. Technically, they're not following regulations. She needs to stay quiet STOMPING INCLUDED until 7am. But does management do anything about it? NO. I'll deal with it at night, but I am getting impatient with the mornings. Management, how about you people fix the carpeting or sound insulation or something? Our neighbor upstairs is seriously going to break through the floor one day. I wake up every morning to their stomping and it's affecting my sleep patterns. I can't believe I'm paying my money for this. I have to be hearing-impaired to live peacefully in this apartment. Would not recommend this place unless you've FULLY inspected it. Ask for a showing in the evening when you can hear the neighbors walking upstairs. Thank the LORD we are moving out in December, away from the terrible and inconsiderate noise upstairs.
