We were greeted by a centipede making its way across the ceiling above the bed. The ice machines do not work. Eventually, the bartender gave me some ice after I wandered the halls and finally made my way to the front desk. The lobby has spray-paint graffiti on the walls which makes you wonder about security. All was not bad, however. Mattress was firm. Hotel location is awesome as Independence Hall is in the next block. Generally clean, if dated. Quiet. Staff was helpful when I had to ask for coffee pods and water bottles.
This hotel is in a spectacular location but has a mildly dysfunctional front desk staff. During my two day stay we had issues scheduling housekeeping with the front desk and then after my stay we found nearly $120 in extra, erroneous charges. On the bright side, the valet personnel was pleasant and professional. But, clearly, it is not a well oiled machine at the Renaissance Philadelphia Downtown Hotel and anyone that values good service and accurate billing should be aware of this
Great location! We were able to walk to Independence Hall, The Museum of the American Revolution, Penns Landing waterfront and area and to many fun restaurants. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. They valet parking guys were so nice. Buffet breakfast in the bar was very good.Rooms: 5/5
Beware. If you get hurt at this location, they do not care at all. We needed emergency medical care and the hotel blew us off completely. Totally unacceptable. Not only did we not even receive any help during our crisis, we were left to pay out of our own pockets for all medical expenses. We later asked for help but was completely ignored by management. Even when we decided not to sue because of their negligence we didn't even get acknowledgement. Beware of this hotel and their management.
Great location but that’s about the only thing going for this hotel. Service is either rude or non-existent. When you do manage to locate someone who works at the hotel reception is not even staffed during prime hours, they are almost snarly and seem completely unhappy to be bothered. Everything in the room is broken and the room is sparse.. We requested housekeeping 3 times—they never showed. Avoid this hotel if you would actual like service.
As a diehard Marriott traveler the hotel was convenient and the staff were prosthesis friendliest I’ve encountered. But the place was very dark, hard to do a Teams call in my room, and everything was showing it’s wear in my room. Exception was the mattress—was awesome!
Cody at the front desk went above and beyond to answer our questions and make us feel welcome. We have come to the renaissance a few times the past and it is always a wonderful experience every time. There is no place better to stay in Philly.Rooms: 5/5
Overall I'm glad we stayed at this location for the convenience to Independence Hall. That being said, this hotel has lost it's charm. The rooms are run down and dark, short staffed, room service is a brown bag, pool is murky, etc. As a 5 year platinum Marriott member, I've come to expect more from the Renaissance hotel.Rooms: 1/5
I stayed here with colleagues. None of us got the rooms we ordered. No room service & was hung up on twice when I called. For the price, it’s not worth the money. Take your money elsewhere, I definitely am.Rooms: 4/5
I’ve been here before and it was great, I’m actually a titanium member with Marriot. I also just recently had a family member join Marriot and I received a discount because of it. The front desk manager RAMON turned me and my fiancé out the door saying that our paper work wasn’t right at 12 am in the morning! He said there is zero way he could override anything even though nothing needed to be override because I had proper paper work that I used before! Very disappointed in Ramona lack of customer service, morals, and empathy. This location needs to do better!
