1,187 miles from Billings to Mexican border and you can tell. Not sure if this place is Mexican or American or a 1950s diner. Grandma and I went for lunch. We ordered a fajita plate with a mixture of meats. It was all clearly warmed up from the night before, Grandma is the queen of the microwave after all. Her “home cooking” is Cracker Barrel warmed up for 90 seconds. It’s a family secret but the only secret is that we don’t tell granny. The queso was tiny and $9 and the kids food came out in little cars that was cute but not practical, expected or wanted. Just go to Taco Bell or even Taco John’s if you want Mexican. At least it won’t be served in a classic car. Trying too hard here amigos.
Rio Sabinas is a great place to eat. Really like the pork and beef tacos. Shrimp saltillo was good too. Staff was friendly and provided great service. Only thing is they don't have the traditional salsa, but it is Tex-Mex so that might be why.
Margarita was good! Ordered Pancho and Lefty combo and loved everything but the chimichanga.
The food was pretty good! My kids didn't like the Mac and cheese and with out asking us she had the cooks remake it to see if it was better!!. Then she messed up on my boyfriend order but it was remade and came back fairly quickly!.... and are desserts ended up being free because of the mishap and my daughters birthday.. definitely would go back again!!! Even with the few issues everything was made right and food was good!!
Setting: great location on the west end with lots of room for big groups, if needed. Cool artwork inside and out and a Seattle grunge type bathroom Service: very friendly staff. Kind and we’re good about refills and chips. Food: if the food had more flavor I think this would be a 5 star spot. Chips and green/red salsa arrive when you sit. The beverage glasses are large. The lemonade is Minute Maid. The shrimp Laredo is covered to much in sauce and lacking flavor. Fried shrimp tacos are good and surprisingly filling. The fried chicken tacos are bland. Maybe more cilantro or more jalapeño ranch would give it better flavor.
Ivette or whatever her name is, i think she works in their bar, yelled at another employee just trying to do his job right in front of my family and other customers! i don’t care who or what her position is but NO ONE ever deserves to be treated and even humiliated like that. All of their waiters/waitresses were AMAZING and super kind, but she was a huge vibe killer. If i worked their i would’ve gotten rid of her immediately, i’ll be extremely disappointed if she still works there. safe to say though i’ll never be back just because of her bad energy and customer service skills.
They play UFC fights and have fairly good food. They have a bar side and a restaurant side. Tend to be very busy on weekends or fight nights. Food is good proportion for price although used to be much more reasonable. Some times food taste and quantity is a 2/5 and sometimes it's a 4/5. It's hit or miss. Definately depends on the day and who is working. However they have many drink options and are known for their large cheap margaritas. They have a couple microbrews on tap, other than that it's a standard bar. In the summer when the enclosed patio is open, the atmosphere is nice. Overall not a bad place to go to enjoy some Mexican food. It's our favorite place to watch the fights.
Good tacos today. Freindly server new but good service. Both kinds of tacos were amazing.
Probably the worst Tex-Mex restaurant I’ve ever been to. No music, dead atmosphere….not sure why they have the decor they have but it’s weird and doesn’t work/match the Tex-Mex flair. Saw one of the waitresses with their mouth open the entire time being there and that person put their nose in someone else’s soda which is a health hazard. The food was terrible and salty….terrible terrible experience! Wanted to walk out so be thankful the over $120 bill was paid….-__- will never be back and would have loved to go to Cafe Rio or Taco Bell and I hate Taco Bell so that’s saying something…. Our Waiter was the best thing about the experience, not his fault about everything else he did his best so thanks for that…still a terrible experience would have given a 0 star review or negative stars but can’t do that. There’s better Tex-mex and Mexican in Billings than this.
Food was very salty and tasted like it had been under a warmer for a while before it was served to us. Mexican hot chocolate was great.Food: 3/5
