Love this place tons of history. Take your time going thru the cemetery. Awesome places to visit in the cemetery are Soldier's Square, Allman Brothers Final Resting Place and the Hebrew and Jewish Burial area. We love this place and discover new things each time we visit.

There are congressmen and rockstars buried there. Also, the lay of the land helps to mute the sounds of the city. If you drive in a little ways, it's suddenly a little quieter, and a little more peaceful. It's really something that must be experienced. It's a beautiful place to walk or run, and it's on the National Registry of historic places.

Very old and very beautiful cemetary housing alot of history. Nice to just walk through and enjoy some great landscaping and unique old growth foliage.
Really enjoyable are the guided tours with actors dressed in period costumes and telling stories of residents buried there. Just a great monument to living history.

As a location connected to Ocmulgee Heritage Trail, it was really cool historic site to check out during my run. Despite the evident vandalism and need for further upkeep in some areas, it’s interesting to learn the role it played in Macon’s history, during the Civil War and even as inspiration for the Allman Brothers Band. I’d definitely recommend visiting for anyone interested in local history or fans of the Allman Brothers.
