I love that they offer a buffet breakfast option for $19.50. They have a small free parking lot available. I ordered the french toast package breakfast option and it filled me up perfectly prior to my bike riding workout. The grapefruit juice was perfectly fresh. Service was fast and friendly especially my waitress liz.
The food was delicious and well served by the server named Ana. She took great care of us and made sure what we wanted and was so knowledgeable about the price on side orders. Everything we need was nicely put together at the table. We didn’t have to keep requesting anything. I am very impressed and happy to visit this historic restaurant. I love it and would recommend this to anyone who wants a cozy place to eat with excellent service.
Local favorite with a bit of history on the menu. Generous portions at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Basic "diner fare" prepared in the southern tradition. Plus, onsite parking in the center of Old Town Alexandria. And you never know who might walk thru the door or be dining in the booth next to you is that who I think it is...?.
I had the grits, eggs, and scrapple with toast and a side of biscuits with sausage gravy and it was everything. My friend had the veggie omelette with turkey sausage, homefries and toast. Everything was great, portions good, coffee was good. Nice diner. Features: Wore a mask until I was seated. Hand sanitizer at the table.
I went for the first time at the end of Restaurant Week. Several in my party wanted the Steak dinner - but they were out of Steaks when we arrived. Others chose the Italian Sampler. I chose the Greek one. Everything was fresh, high quality and delicious! After we had our salads, the Manager brought a Platter of Prosciutto Bread Appetizer- free, because they had run out of Steaks. This was AMAZING - little individual Breads, very flaky and beautifully browned, filled with Prosciutto and Feta. Served with a generous amount of Red Leaf Lettuce Salad with a Balsamic Vinegar dressing. Our 'Sampler' dishes were large and beautifully prepared. My Dessert was just-made Bread Pudding, a very delicate Custard, very light and perfectly made. I enjoyed this with their excellent fresh Coffee. The Royal is an old Diner restaurant in Alexandria famous for its Breakfasts. I'm sorry I didn't go sooner and often - this was my first and last trip because I've only been in the DC area for a few months, and I'm leaving now. But anyone in the Alexandria area should go. It's a Diner, it's not fancy, but the food is excellent and the Staff are kind and friendly.
It was my first time here , service was fast & the food was delicious. I got the french toast meal and I was sure to clean my plate. Everything was very good & very feeling . I will definitely be back !
Food was delicious. Prices were reasonable. The only downside was that they assume we didn't speak English [just because we are latinos]Once we told them we are bilingual, our order was taken and food was delicious. Not sure what that was all about but I just hope people learn from their mistakes and not judge a person from their color of their skin. If you're in town, its a really good breakfast spot. Walking distance from the Holiday Inn hotel on First and the marina. We spent about $56 on a party of four. Pretty decent and delicious.
First time here, it is a breakfast buffet but also can order individual food items. Oh and mimosas! Fall in line for food items. You are not allowed to get the food but the servers do it for you. The ribs were dry but their chicken was really good! IG@punk_pagong
This was my first visit here. I ordered a Cappuccino first. It was horrible. It tasted just like water with no milk or cream. Immediately I thought it was going to go down from there. Surprisingly the food was good. I ordered the French Toast connection. The french toast was made of actual french toast bread so it was nice and thick. The chicken sausage taste fresh and the home fries and onions were good as well. The french toast could use a little more cinnamon. Overall the experience was pleasant and I would return. Service and cleanliness was good as well. Good portions of food as well. Sorry, I can't figure out how to add images. Parking: Parking Lot and on street parking nearby
My friend and I love to try different places - especially in Old Town Alexandria, where we spend a LOT of time. This isn't on the beaten trail, but has been there ages. We finally tried it and thought it was pretty great. We went at 2 or so, and they close at 3, so I was a little concerned how the food might turn out. It turned out very nicely. The place has a fun feel, though the music on didn't jive it was too loud and modern for a diner - felt more like club music. I put in my earplugs, and ordered a gyro. It was very, very good. I sooooo appreciated that the pita was hot, but not crunchy. I don't like a cold pita, and I don't like a crunchy pita. To get a nice hot one that is still soft means it's either fresh, or they took care in the reheating process, which I appreciated. The meat was great, and they didn't stint on it. The portion was generous. My friend really liked his dish too, which was eggs with sausage high-grade - more like mini Polish sausages, I think, and bacon. It is also great that they have a parking lot! I love not having to hunt for a place to park in Old Town. The service was also good - attentive, but not overbearing. We'll be back!
