Several years ago, I was forbidden by the "office manager" to see Dr. Winhuesen (after almost 15 years of being his patient) anymore. I allegedly used a "bad" word when talking to his NEW nurse in an attempt to get my insulin pump supplies. She couldn't get it done and I was running out of supplies. So I may have raised my voice out of frustration, but I did not curse. I asked to hear that "recording" that they always say they are making, or to have a meeting face to face with my accuser. Both request were refused. So just because a frustrated nurse makes a false accusation because she couldn't do her job, I lose a fine doctor without being heard. So much for democracy.

Dr Altenau is sincere, knowledgeable, and kind. He listens and genuinely wants to help. This usually makes him run later on his appointments, but I don't mind it because I know I can trust him. He's active and responsive on the emails in my chart so I can do a lot of our communication there too. The ladies at the desk are very nice and they explain stuff to me if I need help. The nurses are great. Due to bad experiences before, I had been jaded about doctors for pretty much my whole life until I started coming here several years ago. Everyone here is great.

I have been seeing Dr. Winhusen since I was 18 years old. Dr. Winhusen is an amazing doctor- he is knowledgeable, patient and understanding. I would reccomend any of the doctors besides Dr. Cottongim. All of the other doctors are extremely friendly and courteous. The office staff is attentive and helpful. In my experience, they really attempt to do everything they can to handle your medical care in-house instead of constantly sending you to a specialist for every minor thing, which is great because with my insurance, speciality care is twice as much. When they do send you toa specialist, it is another Tri-Health doctor that the doctor personally has worked and can attest to their quality of care. Highly recommend!

I tried to schedule an appointment for my husband and was told he can not return because he transferred to another PCP. So if you ever leave this practice to go to another doctor (PCP) you can not return. The doctors are great but their office polices make no sense to me.
