The way the priest of this church handled my uncle's funeral mass was disgraceful.
My cousin made the Old Testament reading. After he was done, he made a quick speech in remembrance of my uncle. At the end of the speech, he made a quip, saying something like, "Now, let's get this mass over so we can celebrate, amen?!"
After that, Father Brown said something like, "Okay, we'll get this mass over with." Then he and the deacon just walked out and said, "I'm done."
My cousins had to finish the mass all by themselves with another speech and a song. My agnostic cousin even led us in saying an "Our Father", because he wanted to honor his father's wishes for his funeral.
We speculate that Father Brown threw a hissy fit either because a.) my cousin didn't follow the typical protocol for a typical mass or b.) because he made a silly harmless quip about finishing mass so that we can go to the reception.
Either way, the church doesn't belong to the priest. It belongs to God and His children. The priest isn't a king. He's a servant. A priest should respect the mass. And even if he was mad at the congregation for laughing at my cousin's quip, it was so irreverent of him to walk out without ending in prayer and dismissing the people in peace.

It's the faith and church I grew up in. It's where I find peace. It's where I hear the true word of God. And it's where I receive Holy Communion, the body and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. I love it there
