Great place to see birds, just outside of Savannah. The staff at the visitor's center were very helpful. Nice Movie and good displays about the local wildlife. Winning photos from a recent contest were displayed on the walls. A driving trail takes you over and around old rice fields with an audio tour that is broadcast on low power FM. Lots of places where you can pull off and hike or get out to photograph waterfowl. Although the road is dirt, we drove the route in a 24 foot camper van, so cars and trucks will have no problem.

Great park to drive through and see alligators. You can pull off where ever you want and get out to get a closer look. Lots of wildlife to glimpse. Spotting alligators is fun some of them hide pretty well in plain sight. Binoculars are a good idea to get you a closer look. Not a place to bring your dogs, there are signs along the path warning not to walk your dogs there, gators and Fido are not a good mix.

Very nice visitors center with interpretive displays and short movie. Volunteers and rangers were friendly and informative. Driving tour is 4 miles of great birdwatching on well-maintained gravel road. There are several hiking trails on the raised paths between the ponds, but not much shade for sunny days. Overall very enjoyable and well managed wildlife refuge!

Beautiful, mostly undeveloped area with gravel roads to drive on. The loop is less than 5 miles. An audio tour on AM 1610 which gives information such as the animals around you, their calls, and the history of why the area was developed. We saw turtles sunning, Gators, fiddler crabs, and a raccoon. Some of the Gators are fairly tame (for alligators) and will swim close begging for food. It was a nice stop.

A fun place to visit. The staff was very helpful. We saw many interesting birds, including an ibis. Even saw an egret chomping down a frog. Took a while to spot the gators but saw 5 or 6 once we did... and it was a cool, overcast day. All were in the last mile of the drive. Watch the logs for the smaller ones. And if there is a black log... that might very well be a gator! I strongly recommend binoculars; it’s much more interesting that way. Oh and the (biting) gnats were bad so we stayed in the car. Still got some good photos, though!
