Sears Optical

While I was sitting waiting for my appointment, I observed a business blatantly taking advantage of an elderly couple. They were charging them $570.00 for some coating for their glasses among other things. The optical tech was actually trying to give medical advice to them as well. Working way outside of their scope of practice. I only went there because it was on the list for my insurance company. The optometrist was unprofessionally dressed jeans and a polo shirt and spoke condescendingly to me about personal health details regarding his previous patient HIPPA Violation and made some blanketed comments about how people in the Willamette Valley eat poorly. He bad mouthed the business I previously used for eye-care which I didn't appreciate. Overall, his customer service was horrible. They wanted to charge me a deductible when I clearly don't have one on my insurance. Then they tried to double the price of the exam because of what type of insurance I had. The result would have been that the insurance company would have only paid a set amount, and Sears would have billed me for the difference. Nearly $300 for a contact eye exam is crazy. America's Best only charges $79.00 and you can get three years worth of exams for only $99.00. I'm a medical professional and know better than to accept what they were saying. I walked out before it got any worse. I suggest no one use this business as the employees are certainly unethical and their practices, if not criminal, are highly questionable.

I have called the main Clackamas store twice in 3 days and did not get a human being. I left voicemails but have not received a return call. I called the outlet store and got a woman who said she couldn't tell me if they had any riding lawn mowers but could transfer me to someone who could. Big mistake. Sat there and listened to it ring about 50 times. I have the cash to buy a new riding lawn mower and no one from Sears will talk to me. Oddly enough I got great service from someone at Home Depot. I guess they will get my business.

The gentalmen that helped when I went in to find a pair of frames was great. He was very helpful in finding a good frame for my face shape. However, the woman that I talked to when picking up my glasses the next week wasn't the friendliest. I asked if it would be possible for her to stay 5 extra mins since I worked until 6:30 in Tigard, she told me no she had other things to do. Very rude, and terrible customer service. Had it not been for her the experience would've been perfect.

Well Mark, from people's past experiences, doesn't sound like good service. Hope those people were fired. America's best sounds way more helpful.
