There were lots of people. No seats in or outside. The staff handled the crowd well and were getting orders out pretty fast. The shake was really good but the burger didn’t really taste that great. I think it had some alcohol in it which made it bitter. I’ll have to try another option next time.
The staff were super friendly and not what you’d expect in a fast food place. The burger and fries were great but not the best I’ve ever had see Gasoline Grill in Copenhagen if you get the chance. I even added the smoked applewood bacon. The chocolate shake small size was refreshing. I can see why it’s called shake shake and not burger shack. A decent, affordable option for lunch or dinner in downtown Washington.
First time in a shake shack location. Burger is surprisingly good, tender and juicy, just the right size. Crinkle cut fries and chicken bites is also good. Unfortunately their shake custard machine is not working during our visit- I'll just visit another location.
Simply amazing. Burger was a little sloppy but most burgers are built that way. The patty did have a tiny bit of pink on one of the edges, but I can not let that little thing spoil the whole experience. Fries were tasty but delicate, all the while, well seasoned. Strawberry milkshake was adequate. The downside would be parking, which is understandable for DC. It did feel like the staff was inattentive and the cashier would take your order whenever they felt good and ready to take your order, after their personal conversations.
Had Shack Stackmushroom and cheese burger it was 10/10. The sauce, the meat and the cheese slaps. Also ordered a bacon cheese fries-it does the job. Very filling and heavy! Overall recommend but this store is always crowded so the tables are not so clean.
We stopped in for a quick bite after visiting the Smithsonian Art Museum. The staff were kind and helpful. The place was clean and comfortable. The food was delicious and fresh. We wished there was more for our vegetarian child, though the mushroom burger was delicious. A bit pricey, but it's the city. Vegetarian options: Portobello mushroom burger Kid-friendliness: The root beer float was a big hit. Employees were kind to my daughter.
First time at a Shake Shack and wanted to see if the hype/debate over which burger shop was the best. Between this and In-N-Out The shakes we ordered were fantastic. The burgers, while good, weren't anything beyond what I expected. Juicy, cooked well, and imo better flavors across the board than In-N-Out. Very expensive, even compared to the Five Guys - Johnny Rockets kf the world, both of which I prefer, so I deducted 1 star. Staff was quick and friendly. Can't complain!
I’m not the one to leave bad reviews because if I don’t have something to say, I’d rather not say anything. That being said, I understand people seemed to be doing the best they could. All I’m going to say is hands down the best mushroom burger I’ve had! But it’s pricey and small, it looked like a slider.
Great restaurant with great staff near the national archives. My wife and I ordered a hotdog, shack chicken, French fry, and a chocolate shake and it cost around $23 plus tip. I’ve never liked crinkle cut French fries until now! They were delicious! The hot dog was super good and my wife loved the shack chicken sandwich!! The star of the show was definitely the chocolate shake! Super rich, thiccc, and creamy chocolate ice cream Hand spun into a shake???? You bet. Good lunch spot if you’re touring the notional mall! I took away one star because the bathroom didn’t have seat protectors, paper towels, and the toilet seat was…. Not attached correctly. It was also kinda dirty. Fix the bathroom and I’ll make it 5/5!
Ultimately, at the end of the day you have to respect the food that comes out of this place. I brought my friends here that we’re visiting from Papua New Guinea and it was their first time trying Shake shack and they were ecstatic about it! You’ll spend a pretty penny here but it’s definitely worth it I would suggest the outdoor seating as you can see the hustle and bustle of DC go by while you eat! Pro tip if you don’t like spicy food do not order the peppers on top of the burger! :
