Nice, modestly curated gallery with art classes. The hours are spotty so call ahead before you arrive to be sure they’re open. Classes are very overpriced for what you can find at actually art schools in the Valley. Good choice for older family members visiting from out of town.
Wedding & Reception - In November of 2018 our daughter was married at Shemer Art Center. We had 160 guests and it was a lovely event. The staff, especially the President/Exec Director Shonna James, was very accommodating and helpful. It was a perfect inside/outside venue, and we have a lifetime of wonderful memories to share.
Many creative works of local artists in the valley sometimes they have a theme for your artwork
Was there for friends' wedding. Excellent venue in the shadow of Camelback right about off Arcadia.
May seem good with art work vendors which are A-One shows, I noticed however contracting food services or caters in house need some better mangement. If professionalism is your goal attitudes need to be left at home. We need to do better with honoring all members and taking care of our own staff. as well as those we hire. Food services implies decently serviced and workable interpersonal skills.Sometimes this isn't the case. My skills are from the best and most likely to be but strongly least complained about and people aren't perfect that critical miscommunication Saturday was not good. The overall location is wonderful 5 stars but we need to improve our manners to include an open mind . With styles of protocol I was not impressed.
Nice art center. Outside has some sculptures and inside seems to be rotating exhibits. Current exhibit was local high schoolers art. They also have a small shop with Interesting jewelry and other items.
The art center such a great place. Donations are graciously accepted and they have so many classes here. The collections that they have on display are amazing. It's no wonder it's one of the Phoenix points of pride. I've been here twice and I've been impressed both times.
Everything was in order however the ceremonies seemed without AC and unmanaged for 92 degrees in the courtyard area's. The exhibits were first class and the people warm and friendly.
I am a dues paying member of Shemer. It is an artis and cultural center focused on local artisans. If you like supporting locals this is the place to go. It is well organized and a fun place for the kids also.
Shemer Art Center has been fantastic. I took a beginner pottery class with Alan Jones and have really enjoyed the learning process. The Center keeps classes small and had instituted policies to keep students safe during the pandemic. My favorite days are class days.
