My boot heel was worn and finally detached on my way to lunch today. I popped into this shop, where I met Javier. He re-heeled my boots on the spot. Pricing was reasonable. Boots are good as new. Highly recommend!
Fixed a pair of Cole Haans I had that were giving me a blister on the heel, for a very reasonable price and only a day turnover for them. Definitely recommend this place!
It was raining and a strap from my sandals broke off on my way to work this morning.I made my way over to Alex's shoe repair and they were able to fix it right on the spot in about 10 min for only 12 bucks. I was pretty impressed, i thought i was going to have to buy new shoes to wear fot the rest of the day. Will definitely come back with other stuff. Great job !
If I could have provided a zero-star rating I would. The only positive I can give this establishment is it's presence is marginally better than an empty store front. It's location and proximity to a host of commercial and residential towers is it's only reason for survival, which was my only reason for using it as much as I used to. Unfortunately, plastering your wall with old photographs of semi-famous patrons and local celebrities does not translate into a great business. Unfortunately, several terrible experiences have completely soured me on the business and I will attest that Alex's Shoe Repair is one of the most dishonest and bush league shoe repair and polish places going in a city with seemingly one on every street corner. I had brought a pair of high-end bit loafers into Alex's to be 1 Re-heeled; and 2 Have the bit repaired on one of the shoes had come loose. Instead, of reheeling the shoes with a combination leather/rubber heel - a very common repair - Alex's completely cut my leather heel stack and replace it with a full 3/4" rubber heel - not something I had asked for nor wanted a pair of $900 shoes, and was clearly done out of sheer ignorance, incompetence, or, most likely, laziness and trying to juice margins. Additionally, instead of reattaching the bit, Alex's completely broke the bit, necessitating a full replacement. This is where things when off the rails... Alex's held my shoes hostage for 6-months trying to push replacement bits on me that not only did not fit, but came from a completely different brand of shoes and looked like they better fit a pair of motorcycle boots. At one point "Alex" himself called me and accosted me for being so demanding to want my shoes repaired, properly and that he could find the same ones from a corner discount store... Really?... "Alex" even lectured me that the prior shoe repair work looed like a hack job - fun fact, Alex's had been performed the prior sole work! Ultimately, I sent my shoes to Rago Brothers Shoe Repair, who completely reworked the butcher job that Alex's had performed and saved my shoes, in 3-days no less. I cannot speak more highly of Rago and less of Alex's. Alex's Shoe Repair could learn something from Rago. Do yourself a favor and avoid this butcher shop.
The guy told me it was going to be $4 for a shine of my dress shoes sitting down or $5 if I dropped them off with him. Since I wasn't wearing them and I had them in my hands, I asked him how long and he said 10 minutes so I handed him my shoes and went to run another errand. I was gone for about 40 minutes and when i came back he said he was finishing them up, I paid the lady at the counter $5 and as I walked out the guy stopped me and said "we work for tips here man" so I gave him $1 and I will plan on never coming back. I already gave you a tip by not having the shoes on my feet, buddy. My advice would be to go somewhere else where they won't haggle you for money and appreciate your business.
Shined up 3 year old scuffed boots to look as good as new in 10 mins. Great local small business, hope to see them on the other side.
This place is the best shoe repair and shoe shine in the city.Their work is superb , they did an excellent job on my resoling and reheeling. Alex's shoe repair saved my laboutins, cannot recomend them enough.
