Soldiers Caribbean Buffet

Food was amazing!! As a I have to admit the brown rice and brown beans was PERFECT! oxtail had the perfect amount of heat! Macaroni and cheese was to die for mixing it with the candied yams! 5 star!!food area is very clean! Hand sanitizer available! Gloves must be put on! Another great thing! Definitely stop by

The food was ok I guess. I wouldn't say it was good but that's probably because I was so annoyed when I left. I don't have high expectations when I go to Jamaican restaurants as being rude to customers seems to be a standard but this was a new low. The place was a mess! While serving two plates, I couldn't even place the container down because the counters were so nasty. The surface above the food was dusty and grimey and the counters were filthy with food and mysterious liquids. I asked the women working and by working, I mean sitting in the dining area lounging if she had something to wipe the counter down, she responded "yes" and then stared at me blankly for several seconds until I followed up with "could you use it to clean this up, I have nowhere to set this down while I serve my food" to which she responded reluctantly "yeah he will come" and pointed in the direction of the kitchen and then LOOKED AWAY as if to tell me she's no answering any more of my questions. "He" never arrived to clean it. In fact, I took the attached picture on my way out after serving my food, going back to my car b/c I forgot my ID to use my credit card, returning, waiting on line behind 2 customers, and paying for my food .. if you can imagine how long that took and it still was not cleaned. If I wasn't starving and already running behind on my errands, I wouldn't have purchased anything from here. Needless to say, I'll never go back. Horrible place!

FOOD HAS BEEN BETTER SINCE THE COVID PANDEMIC HAS BEEN SLOWING DOWN FOR SOME REASON

The place was fairly empty considering the time 4 pm afternoon which was great for us. My fiancé and I were traveling on the road with our two week old infant and decided to stop in and “support our own” it was dimmed lighting, food was prepared and laid out well not to mention labeled too. As it being my first time I was astounded to find out two medium plates literally fixed the same way we get from other caribbean restaurants in the Bronx actually ended up costing us double what we normally pay! Omg I’m still speechless! I honestly didn’t even enjoy the food because I felt robbed. The cashier lady was very pleasant and thus made the dining experience somewhat worthy! Unfortunately I feel robbed and would not be coming back, I had a medium size rice curry goat curry chicken and some Mac and cheese and my fiancé had rice and peas, cabbage, oxtail, and Mac and cheese and both plates came up to $70.70! Food was regular as well, nothing too spectacular. Sigh wish I had a better experience, but I will not be coming back.

Been eating from here since a youth u hear. Lol Nah for real check em out u won’t be unhappy trust me. Everything is cooked just rite not to hot not to much seasoning food will blow ur mind mon

The food is great.... They lost 2 stars because of the cashier. He was so busy watching tv he messed up and had to do the order over. To him forever to check us out bc he was still was watching tv lol!! Customer service is everything !!

Was partially on the defense because of self-served food during covid but HAPPY I took my chances. The food is good, cheap and lots of variety. The customer service may be lacking but hey it’s is self served. Happy I took my chance even with the bums outside the place and self serveI can fill my plate.

Be aware that this spot is cash only. It has an extensive buffet with a lot of delicious food. The food is fresh. No single item on the buffet looked old or dried out. I had the sliced salmon, which had a few small bones, but was delicious. The macaroni and cheese is creamy and comforting. Everything was well seasoned. They charge by the pound, and enough for a meal with a bit left over for my husband and me was about $25. It was well worth it. The food is high quality and impeccably seasoned.

YES! One of the only buffet spots in Crown Height. You will find your favorite Caribbean dishes. The flavor was great. They had an amazing variety for main courses, side dishes and desserts. Beat part? It’s inexpensive!

Friendly staff and the food was delicious. Nice selection for vegetarians. I was impressed. They have a big flat screen TV so you can watch tv while eating. Which my friends and I enjoyed. Can’t wait to go back, prices cheap compared to the quality of food you get.
