1st things first, food has always been great. Now, lets get into service and my experience. WARNING: this gets long!!! This is my fourth time ordering from this business, every time I order the service and wait time have been disappointing. I had been raving about the food to my coworkers for months and finally last Thursday, I was able to convince them to order lunch with Soul Foo Young. I started collecting orders at about 9:30 AM, and while sharing the menu I seen that the official website says you can order ahead of time for later pickup; Perfect. Now I know from all of my previous orders that the food is never ready when I get there, I have always had to wait at least 30 min outside of my scheduled pick up time. I placed the order for an 11:45 AM pickup time the total was $65.84 and I added a tip of $6.69 for a grand total of $72.53. The order instructions said that I should receive an email by 11:15 AM from the business stating that they have received my order as a confirmation, because they open at 11:00 AM. At 11:30 AM, I checked my email and didn't see any confirmation of the order so, I called. I explained to the lady that answered that I placed an order online, and I have not received any confirmation of the order. She asked my name in which I provided the name for the order and she said "we don't have an order for you." I explained that I ordered directly from the website, I gave her the total of the order and explained that the charge has been deducted from my financial institution. She again said we don't have an order for you, and the tone was a bit unprofessional. I said I could provide the transaction ID if that would help. She again said aggressively "we don't have an order for you and we don't open until 11 so you couldn't have placed it at 9:30AM." At this time I'm at work, I'm in a cubicle and I'm trying to keep my professionalism because my coworkers trusted in me to order their lunch, and I have accepted their payments for their food and lunch time is at 12:15PM. Another individual at the establishment took over the phone call at this time and identified herself as the owner, we will call her T for the review. She asked me about my order and I again explained that I ordered directly from the website at 9:30 Am for an 11:45 pickup time. She said that if the order came thru at 9:30 Am while they were closed that no one would be able to accept the order and that it would be cancelled and refunded. Which was unfortunate because you shouldn't be allowed to order ahead of time if its not an option. She said I would be refunded by next Tuesday which is today. I said I still need the food because people are expecting lunch at 12:15 PM, its 11:35 AM. I said listen; I still want to order the food, I'll pay again if she could start preparing the order now, and I did just that. I repaid for the food myself, she did offer to pay for my meal but I refused as long as they made this right because I wanted to support this business. When I ordered online the second time at 11:40 AM the only available pickup listed was 12:45 PM, but knowing that I just asked the owner to please start preparing the order now as I promised the food by 12:30 PM to my coworkers. I left work at 12:05 Pm and arrived at about 12:15 PM. I went to the window and the woman who answered said your early your pickup time says 12:45 PM. I replied "yes, but I spoke with T and asked her to start the order at that time", I even put that in the comments of the new order for reference. She said we just started the order now so it will be a "little wait." Needless to say I got the food at 1:15 PM : coworkers ate at 1:30 PM: and I have yet to receive my original refund: So at this point my total spent here is $144.53 : There is no ambiance, you order at a window and outside of the establishment are a few chairs up against the wall. My fried wings melted my Styrofoam container and the melted Styrofoam was stuck to my wings pic below. Never again Soul Foo Young!!! This was such a disappointing experience. PLEASE DO BETTER!!
I had an incredible dining experience at this restaurant. The dish that stood out to me was the delightful combination of fried rice and crispy Chicken wings, accompanied by a flavorful side of collard greens. The greens were exceptionally well-prepared, surpassing my expectations. In fact, I regret not ordering a second helping. Additionally, the service I received was top-notch, further enhancing my overall satisfaction with the establishment.
OK I’m just gonna be straight up every other Chinese restaurant in Vegas is trash compared to this place I am from Massachusetts. This is definitely just like East Coast Chinese food. The Chinese food on the West Coast has been nothing but A flavorless nightmare this fried rice they’re selling out of here is like beyond flavorful it’s nice and dark with color. Everything is perfect about that rice. The chicken wings are banging the egg foo young is just like back home so if you’re from the East Coast and you miss East Coast Chinese food drop everything you’re doing and run to this place you won’t regret it. Thank y’all for being here. I needed a good Chinese spot. It’s been almost 3 years of eating garbage.
Due to covid you do have to order outside at the window now. But I love the customer service they have. Food was amazing. Today I got the Bruce Leroy. Which consist of vegetable fried rice which has eggs, bean sprouts, and green onions and 3 whole chicken wings. They also provide the soy sauce and hot sauce. The rice was good not under cooked. It does taste like they add soy sauce in the rice so I would taste it before you add additional sauce. The chicken wings are whole wings and they are nice sizes. Not confuse it with the wing dings other restaurants serve saying they wings and they're not lol. Anyway this place serve whole wings that are cooked to perfection. The flavors are amazing it's season perfectly. Now this plate cost me $16 but it is worth it. Every on the Westside of Las Vegas stop by and give them a try, you won't regret it. Parking: Because it does share the lot with other establishments so parking is limited on the lot at times but across the street is a huge parking lot as well. Wheelchair accessibility: It is a one level restaurant, no steps.
So I just paid $13.00 for these tiny little wings which were old, not fresh. The food was old today and the rice taste burnt. $40 down the drain.Food: 5/5
First off, since moving to Vegas, I have not been able to find a place that frys catfish properlyaka my fathers way. No slime. If it's still slimy, I don't touch it. Let me tell you, the catfish here is more than worthy. I may be a bit biased, but oh well. This is my new favorite place to eat in vegas. Thank yall for your service and your delicious home cooked meals. Took me back to my childhood in 2.2 seconds. Tried the skinner burger with fries as well. Nothing will stop me from coming back at this point. The proportions of catfish are ridiculous in size compared to other restaurants I've been too that also offer catfish. Felt like I was eating two full fish. Trust me, this is the joint. Get your feel. Apologies for talking about catfish so much. It's my favorite. I don't enjoy it too often because people don't usually know how to cook it properly. Go!
They tell you you have to wait 30 minutes then don't get your order done in that amount of time which is honestly a ridiculous amount of time to begin with. I used to work as a fry cook and I know it takes 11 minutes to cook chicken wings. They serve all of the pick up orders first and don't focus on the people who walk up and pay. I don't know about how good the food is yet because I'm still waiting for it. Regardless, I won't be back again. I could have made my own food if I wanted to wait this long.
I went here today. There were no other customers there when I arrived . I waited over 35-40 minutes before I got my food. Mind you, I ordered hamburger & fries . The burger was slapped together and thrown in the bag with the fries, the bag was extra greasy. I vowed to support black owned businesses…this place makes it very hard to. Very disappointed !!
I absolutely love this place! The staff and the service was great. Very friendly and inviting. The food was outstanding, frfr! I'm a native NYker, and until today I was so longing for the Chinese food I used to get back home but the search is over! I had the fried rice, chicken wings and collard greens - all if which were delicious. I REALLY appreciate the fried rice, nice and dark in color, with bean sprouts and scallions and not packed with peas n carrots! I'm definitely going back for more, as they have a nice sizable menu with the combination of soul food and Chinese food - genius idea, btw. And to the sweet young lady who promised to make it right if anything wasn't to my liking - I have NO complaints, see ya next time! - Karen.
I used to go to this place when it first opened, so yummy! Always got the Bruce Leroy! Also my favorite movie Went there recently and it's still so good, but now they have smaller chicken wings and charge more for the chicken fried rice plate. And it's a walk up like back east. Don't expect to sit down, get your food and go grub.
